So is this going to turn into a war by proxy I wonder?

The fact that Iran itself is sending forces removes the proxy factor. It was proxy until this point.
This is now Syria & Iran vs FSA Benefactors who will be forced to step in militarily eventually to level the field.

There is still a proxy force in action, but for a limited time.

Obama already set the stage for direct military involvement when he said if he sees Syria use or even move their chemical weapons he'd be more inclined to send in US forces. Really all he would need to do now is simply say Syria did something with chemical warfare, even if they didn't.

This never was a proxy war imo,if you arm, fund, train, support and command a fighting force your just as guilty, such is the case with Western nations who have (besides supporting the fsa/al-qaeda),had many European and African national soldiers captured red handed during fighting in Syria..this would give a legal right to enact the defence treaty.. i maintain NATO and allied nations had/have no right meddling in this conflict

Assad falls in Syria will result in Iran becoming more weak when facing off the coming attacks after the elections. Iran is only doing itself a favor by helping Syria.

It would be legally wrong to attack Iran but ethically and morally it would be right. Atomic Bomb in the hands of another Islamic nation is a very scary scenario that will 'crazy up' the global geopolitics and put Israel in immense danger. Iran should wise up and stop its nuclear ambitions and call an end to all the coming hostility.

point your finger at one nation in the ME,then blame them all

as a true ally would (at least defense pack) plus im sure its more of a public gift than a real substantial amount of troops and toys that will turn the tide

Army of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution

Is it me or does anyone else picture 300 guys on Camels with old Soviet automatic weapons towing a few crates of stolen American rocket launchers?

I am for Syria.
They need all the help they can get to stop the US sponsored revolution.
They are using this method to destroy any country that will not kiss there but.

Iran for all its bad habits does not possess an elite force that can combat anything except unarmed civilians.

Iran has not started a war since1826, during the 4th Russo-Persian War. The reason is not their good nature but their clear lack of an elite force or any tactical know-how.

So nothing to fear by these "elite" forces from Iran.

Don't underestimate the Revolutionary Guards or Iranians in general. The fact you seem to label them as incompetent seems to ignore Persians, throughout history, have often been rather powerful as a result of their military strength. Granted, it has been a couple of millennia since their heyday, however. They did rather well against Iraq in the 1980's despite having no real military to speak of, holding back for many years what was at the time the best equipped and trained force in the Arab world with nothing more than gun-toting children and half-crazed zealots.

Iran has, in strategic circles, been said to have pretty much got asymmetric warfare licked. Going in thinking their a bunch of camel jockies is going to result in a rude awakening. For any perceived lack of training or equipment (and the Rev Guards are the best trained and equipped troops in Iran), do not underestimate the power of indoctrination and religious fervour.

Sorry CE.

I couldn't find any local news confirming what you say.

+ All the helps from Iran are strategic help. BTW , Iran has a great history with unstabilization.
