I got the impression he drove heavy machinery that can't do 80mph. I could be wrong, maybe he's talking about his big SUV or something? But I picture him driving heavy machines on a work site much like the Russian/Israeli bulldozer driver. And speaking of him, if people were refusing to move and leave the area, even after being tear gassed, why would he continue driving forward or at all? Safety first, no? The job at hand is clearly not safe because these protestors could get hurt. Proper thing to do would be call the police and have them arrested THEN bulldoze. Hell, one poster already listed all the charges she could have faced if the police arrested her. So my questions are how come the protesters weren't arrested and why did they continue to bulldoze when it was clear its unsafe to do so?

I mean, wtf? This type of protest isn't new. I've seen it portrayed in movies but I'm sure right here in America this same scenario happened. I wonder if anyone else has ever been run over by a bulldozer while protesting? Hell, this guy made it...

Tank Man

The incident took place near Tiananmen on Chang'an Avenue, which runs east-west along the south end of the Forbidden City in Beijing, on June 5, 1989, one day after the Chinese government's violent crackdown on the Tiananmen protests. The man placed himself alone in the middle of the street as the tanks approached, directly in the path of the armored vehicles. He held two shopping bags, one in each hand.[4] As the tanks came to a stop, the man gestured towards the tanks with his bags. In response, the lead tank attempted to drive around the man, but the man repeatedly stepped into the path of the tank in a show of nonviolent action.[5] After repeatedly attempting to go around rather than crush the man, the lead tank stopped its engines, and the armored vehicles behind it seemed to follow suit. There was a short pause with the man and the tanks having reached a quiet, still impasse.

He stopped tanks so how come the bulldozer kept going?

Read the thread, it has even happened in the USA... and the driver was not charged either.

That's all you have to respond too?

And I did read the thread and then I skimmed over it again but I have no idea where this has been posted. Can you do me a favor and show me

Very true. A similiar thing happened in the USA,

Reverend Bruce W. Klunder was a white Presbyterian minister and civil right activist, born in Oregon. He died at age 27 on April 7, 1964, when he was run over by a bulldozer while protesting the construction of a segregated school in Cleveland, Ohio

en.wikipedia.org...

Funny how people are not whining about that, probably because Israel was not involved.

Bulldozers are dangerous machines, more so when people do silly things in front of them.

That guy was run over in the 60s so why would anyone be up in arms about it now? How come you didn't post how he died? He didn't do silly things in front of that bulldozer, instead he did a silly thing by diving on the ground behind it and the driver never had a chance to see him.

The next day Klunder and about 1,000 other demonstrators returned to the school. Already awaiting them were dozens of Cleveland police. Moments later Klunder, two women and a man dashed across the school lot toward a bulldozer. Three of them flung themselves into the path of the steel treads. Klunder lay down behind the machine. The driver, John White, 33, stopped when he saw the three in front. He looked around but did not see Klunder, and he backed up. When he finally stopped, Klunder was dead.[2]

Too bad there's no information about the driver and if the family of Klunder tried to seek justice. My guess, since Klunder charged the bulldozer and dove behind it it should be clear the driver is innocent of this death. These police had to deal with about a 1000 protesters vs Rachel and her little gang who were tear gassed but never arrested.

Let's face it.

The tragic death of this young women is a convenient vehicle for you and others to grind a political

I'm sure she wouldn't mind being that she died a political activist.

but activism is a misnomer. Activism is childish fabian socialist rhetoric. A false solution.

Shes a martyr, because she died defending herself and others for what she knew was right. The question I wonder is, did she know that she could lose her life? Really?

OR, was she a pawn in a game far more sinister than she had been aware of? the problem with non violence is that your enemy wont stoop as low as you to win....

Its very sad that there are millions of people who claim to be activists but wont put their lives on the line for anything including themselves.

And its sad that there really is a horrible plot to control and kill others as part of a Countries Status Quo.

In my opinion, if you are going to fight in this war of injustice--you BETTER know WHO the enemy is and WHAT they are capable of. Otherwize you end up dead, and possibly make things worse for your cause.

I’m completely unfamiliar with this case as it happened before my time. However, why were they bulldozing these houses in the first place? The way I see it, everyone is responsible for their own actions. It seems people forget that and try to blame everyone else for everything that happens. Rachel and the bulldozer drive should share the responsibility. She stood in the way and didn’t move, even though her cause may have been just. The driver refused to stop. I don’t think it’s fair to lump all of the blame on one party when both contributed to this horrible incident. Having said that, nobody deserves to die standing up for what is right.

While we disagree with the definition of political activism I agree she is a martyr to some. I dunno anything about her being a pawn but I also agree you should know thy enemy. Luck favors the prepared.

I'm not very familiar with this case either. I'm aware of it but never got into it because it too was before my time, so to speak. I think they were bulldozing the houses because terrorist used them to launch attacks at Israel? And then there's always the case of Israel increasing their borders, so I guess you and I got some googling to do

I think you deserve a Darwin award for thinking your joke was funny. You're the only one laughing buddy. I hope people show up to your house one day with machine guns and bulldozers and tear your family's home to the ground while running over several of your family members as they try and stop the barbarians in a bulldozer.

You do realize that she did this under her own free will? She traveled to a foreign country and put herself in this hilarious position in front of a running bulldozer. No one showed up at her door.

You do realize all this? Right?

Civil living and war-time are different perspectives. DARE you call our forefathers whom fought the Independence War, Civil War, and WWII as 'murderers'?

Do make the difference. I know it is a bad time, but rationality must rule. It would be unconscionable if an innocent human was cut down, BUT EQUALLY and even worse, if we hang the supposed 'perpetrator' who is innocent. Thus the rule of law must come into place, or we mankind will only descend upon chaos and rule of the jungle, where none will survive.

As for those whom are asking who the 5 independent investigations were, wait for the full court report to come out. As as an addeum, do take note of the rest of my post to let the rule of law takes its place instead of letting emotions run high and saddle the baggages of the past upon the next innocent generations instead of acknowledging errors, correcting them to progress.

We mankind had seen enough of how simple folks had been manipulated upon emotions to achieve their own selfish agendas, and when awoken, regret to the very core of one's soul for the mistakes made. Do not make the same mistake please.

Here is an eyewitness that says the Israeli court is full of BS. And what war is Israel currently fighting? They have no declaration of war right now.

Here's what her mother had to say.

So what if she did? That still doesn't give the driver a right to murder her.

I know if I were in her position I would have gotten the hell out of the way. There are better ways to die than by bulldozer, that's for sure.

She stood her ground and I suppose that makes her braver than me.

It's a sad, sorry, messed up situation, in all.
