I went back and listened to the full speech and I agree it was taken out of context since he was indeed speaking on the greater context of the relationship between the Presidency and the Press during a time of war, or in this case a cold war and so his intent was not in exposing a secret cabal, rather those words just indicated his beliefs in general of what we are not stand for (despite the need for the press in holding back information if it would hurt the US in its efforts). Having said that, I can no longer edit the post as it has been over 4 hours I have posted it. Though I would say that despite that not being his main intent he unwantingly described that which is the case in the context that is something we do not and should never stand for, ha, the irony.

I was actually somewhat eager to accept that debunking, but upon another listen Kennedy is clearly speaking on multiple levels for those listening at the time to get his deeper message. It's one that he simply couldn't speak plainly about.
