Are you really that naive? Screw the satellite records on the Artic, have you stepped outside lately? We're breaking heat records almost on a daily basis. Are you trying to tell me you haven't noticed how the weather is dramatically changing around the world? Are you saying that fossil fuels do not put out gases that are extremely harmful to the environment? That there isn't documented evidence that supports that claim?

Wow so you open right up into an ad-hom and then branch out into a straw man? I can see this will be good! lol

"we're breaking heat records on a daily basis" Who is we? I'm in the UK and we have the same weather we've always had...

Nope not seen "dramatic changes around the world"...

Oh so this thread is now about "gases that are extremely harmful to the environment? Global warming is about them too?

Documented evidence about what? LOL Please ramble a little less...

Let me guess, you're more qualified then hundreds(if not thousands) of scientists? Scientists from all around the world that have all came to the same conclusion? What is their agenda? Honestly can you tell me that? That they give a s#@t about the environment and want to protect it anyway they can?? Ooh those evil bastards. How dare they give a crap about the environment.

Now we move on with an appeal to authority? There are scientists on both sides of the fence but hey you will only listen to one side won't you? The almighty scientists have been caught out lying too, but you still hang off every word right?

"What is their agenda?" Wow, you need me to tell you that? ERM... FUNDING? Are you to have me believe that scientists won't do as they are told to secure funding? Now as for the people at the top their agenda is power/money/control...

Give me a break. The fact that people still argue whether or not "global warming" is real is a joke.(that or they're paid shills trying to throw out disinformation to further distract people from the truth)

So I guess the studies that showed no global warming over the past 10 years were just non-sense then? Didn't you find it odd how they changed the name to "climate change"? LOL Oh but yes, sure, I'm a paid shill
... Grow up and start to use a little critical thinking my friend!

You're right, 1979 to the present is "a nano second in relation to the history" but what you're not considering is the fact that we have only been burning fossil fuels a little over a hundred years. If you look at data, you can clearly see the rise in gases. And right around the late 70's it dramatically jumped which makes sense because there were more more people driving cars at that point. There was a much higher demand.

Oh so FINALLY we get on topic and you tell me I am right?

All of what you say means nothing! Whether we are pumping out "gases" or not you still need much more data than this to prove anything! Because say for instance they had data from BEFORE we were pumping out "gases" and we had higher levels of ice melting it would make this study a non-issue. As it stands it is still a non-issue because we don't have that data!

Before you make a statement like that, you may want to do a little bit more research. Here in a few years when you can't step outside because your face might melt off and the radiation is so bad, maybe you will reflect back to this time when you were in total denial. Maybe you'll wonder "God I wish we would of taken some precautions". "I wish we would of done something". Wake up man,

Oh boy, oh boy!
You do realize that by now we should all be underwater right? There were going to be whole countries swallowed up by huge catastrophes! Please keep your DOOM porn to yourself!

I have looked into the whole thing but I guarantee that you have NOT looked on both sides of the fence! You just believe what you are told without questioning anything! Go you!

Great thread, Pause4thought. S+F. I have been wondering what is going on with the arctic myself, and if the increase in world-wide quakes could be connected, via "Post Glacial Rebound"? I'm sure everybody has caught the articles a couple of weeks ago about the unprecedented rate of melting in Greenland.

www.guardian.co.uk...

The first thought that popped into my head was fallout from Japan speeding it up, [I have a geiger and check my rainfall.... oh yeah, it's here], and of course the gulf stream being messed up from the gulf BP disaster. We had a very mild winter here in eastern Ontario, followed by an extreme summer drought and heatwave.

Then today I found this little write-up.

The catalogue of waste dumped at sea by the Soviets, according to documents seen by Bellona, and which were today released by the Norwegian daily Aftenposten, includes some 17,000 containers of radioactive waste, 19 ships containing radioactive waste, 14 nuclear reactors, including five that still contain spent nuclear fuel; 735 other pieces of radiactively contaminated heavy machinery, and the K-27 nuclear submarine with its two reactors loaded with nuclear fuel.
Please read. It will knock your socks off.
www.bellona.org...

Now they're only fessing up to this dump because the crazy Bast#@ds want to go and drill oil here!
[I'm picturing a combination BP Macondo/fukushima explosion] in my head.

Ok here is the map from the write-up. I marked this point for reference at the tip of Novaya Zemlya because we know this massive dump is somwhere close in the Kara Sea.

Something clicked and I went looking for a model showing the areas melting.
I found one.
I have marked the same point on Novaya Zemlya, and I have also marked in the areas where the ice has disappeared. To me it looks like quite a bit has disappeared from the area of this dump.

www.youtube.com...
Also the way it's melting around eastern Russia / Alaska left me wondering if there is another dump there, that hasn't been found or admitted to?
I'm no scientist, I just noticed it seems to be disappearing from the other side of Canada quicker.

I noticed the date of 1979 roughly when the melting sped up. It says the subs were dumped in 1981 but the dump was already being added to. I didn't see a date for when they began this dumping.
What do you think?

Boy, I didn't think I'd be back here so soon.

Fountains' of methane 1,000m across erupt from Arctic ice
They made a terrifying discovery - huge plumes of methane bubbles rising to the surface from the seabed.
www.dailymail.co.uk...
You'll note, this is in eastern Siberia, so the other end of Russia, near Alaska. The spot where I suggested there might be a second nuclear dump. So I guess this melting is from a more natural [If we can say that?], source

How's that to start your day?

And this little write-up.
The first is that a record Arctic ice melt had just been announced by the scientists studying the region. The 2012 figure has not only beaten the previous record, established in 2007. It has beaten it three weeks before the sea ice is likely to reach its minimum extent. It reveals that global climate breakdown is proceeding more rapidly than most climate scientists expected.

ATS has so many smart, well read folks who are on par [Hell, twice as sharp] as our "Official moron baffled experts". I'm hoping one or two will show up here and help us understand.

Funny that as over the last decade numerous records of weather extremes have been broken. This summer has just been recorded as the second wettest on record.

But its the long term global trends that matter, not your anecdotal commentary.
