I can explain it. The earth is teasing me, lets it get up to six ninety nine then laughs at my prediction. It isn't going to let me be right, I suppose that's only fair because I can't say everything I did to her was fair. I still love the earth, it supplies us with food and entertainment and allows us to live here even though very few of us actually respect her properly.

Well said.

I would have given you 10 stars for that statement if I could have.

I understand there are eq's in cali everyday, but it seems that there are a whole bunch in southern cali today that are one after the other. Could this be the build up of something big happening or is this what the earth does to prevent a larger quake from ripping the place in two?

On USGS I got 1295 quakes of all magnitudes in the region over the past 7 days. Brawley, CA, seems to be getting the most activity, with 7 quakes of magnitude 4 or greater; 3 quakes higher than magnitude 5.

I don't know what the significance of this is, but USGS doesn't seem to be losing any sleep over it. I assume that means nothing much is happening.

Seismologists seem to say that lots of smallish quakes could either be a fault ready to rip, or else a fault letting off strain gradually so it doesn't rip. Translation: Either it's building up to a big quake, or else it isn't. Always good to know that the experts are on the job...

Hi, everyone!

I was using universal time since that's what USGS uses.
One thing that I didn't know 'til last night, is how the old ones drop off.

I thought a whole day would drop off at midnight. (Which isn't when UTC changes days either!!!)
But they drop off one by one, by the hour, at the same time they happened.
Sooo....there are a couple of hours today that have 20 something of them going to go bye bye!!!

This could be a neck & neck race, but probably only for the next hour or so.
If there's not an uptick pretty soon, too many are going to be dropping off every hour.
I don't think the old nag has a last burst of energy that big! LOL!!!
I'm going to be leaving for the day soon, so I will probably miss the best part!

I think my guess of 724 by 4:00pm today will be beat, unless we have a quiet day.

Whoever it was that guessed 750, may be the winner!

698 now good morning:-)

Good morning Char-Lee

What was your guess?

Mine was 700 by this afternoon! 681 it went back down a bit we will see! Do't think i will make it in 2 hours!

wow,

might this have any correlation with some degree of magnetic shift?

Actually, that was one of the predictions of the ice melting at the poles. If it is happening because of the prediction, it is going to get worse than this.

One more I ran across is Louisana Sinkhole Alarms Reported.

This thread seems to have quieted down. Hope all those that were keeping an eye on this thread come back.

Perhaps it has quietened down because some folks got over their hysteria
Disaster porn is still porn. Nothing like the actual thing, thankfully in this case

Nice find and Sherrie from that website, used to be QuestioningAll here on ATS. She was great, but something happened and she left here suddenly.

I wonder if this has something to do with all the EQ's that hit the area.

SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) - A strong rotten egg smell had Southern Californians plugging their noses and crying foul Monday as air quality investigators scrambled to determine if the sulfurous scent was coming from the Salton Sea.

The beachings are interesting but I often wonder if they are made to 'fit' the facts? I have not studied so I am not sure about that but with the potential for a mag 6+ earthquake every 2 days or so the chances are that a beaching and a quake would be very close to each other.

The only thing would be the area and if what she says is right then that would be of interest.

The Salton Sea has quite an interesting history: Wikipedia

I don't think the recent quakes are volcanic however as I said earlier.

For the same reasons people live in Tornado alley, hurricane prone regions, and flood prone regions. They have families there. They have roots there. They like the climate. They like the people. They like the vibe and the atmosphere.

I live right in quake ground zero, the Bay Area. It's a beautiful place to live, though, like anywhere, far from perfect. I would rather live here and risk the danger (though I strongly advocate being prepared 365 days a year) than uproot my life and go somewhere else where I don't know how to live, get sick because of the weather, and feel totally lost for years until I acclimated.

I do not hold with the notion that those who willingly live in disaster prone areas are at fault when disasters strike. Catastrophe can strike anywhere, anytime. We cannot live our lives in fear in my opinion.

This video sort of shocked me. If true then it's like saying Edgar Casey was right and California will
slip into the ocean one day.
I rarely post anything so since I did here then it means it really gets to me.
