You are right in that very rarely does anything go as planned. The U.S. Military has banks of networked Super Computers that work 24/7 calculating probabilities and Strategies. The U.S. ALWAYS has a contingency plan.

Russia and China...regardless of Rhetoric...KNOW...it is better to work with the U.S. than Fight the U.S.

One would like to think that we get to be superpowers by being smarter than the rest. We would like to think as superpowers we have too much to lose to have such a war but our govt's decisions haven't been the best lately and all of our lives would be at stake if such a war took place....

as far as china is concerned they do look like competing with u.s......its like pre cold war between them...so may b there could b conflict between them......as far as russia is concerned they r nw little less concerned abt world power than cold war era..
i dont knw y but for ww3 ppl only stress more on u.s,russia,china,israel,iran and koreans....no one sees how powerful India has bcome in small time after its independance...
india has 3rd largest army in world after china and u.s...it is sandwiched between most volatile region of world viz middle east,afghanistan,pakistan on one side and rival asian giant china on other and will definately b part of ww3 if that happens
in its arms race against arch enemy pakistan for decades it has bcome world's largest arms importer and has ties with u.s,israel,japan and very close ties with russia in defence sector
so if u r wondering u.s & allies vs russia,china & allies....u hav to think whose side india will b and dat will make big difference
