According to you. And, of course, because it's your opinion, that makes it TRUTH... I get it. I know your mindset. If it's wrong for YOU, it's wrong for everyone. You are a freedom fighter! Fighting for the freedoms that you agree with. I get it.

I've been pregnant. I've faced the decision. You have NOT.

What he is saying is ignorant, yes, but I also think it's obvious what he was getting at with the marriage bit.

He was saying - That the woman should want to know whether or not her pregnancy was the result of her rape, or relations with her husband, if she has one.

He is only speaking on the assumption that a woman who regularly has consensual sex, and is raped and impregnated, would not necessarily know who the father was.

That part wasn't well worded, and he's obviously a doofus, but still surprised it flew over so many peoples heads.

I have to agree with you. I read the OP and then I read the link the OP provided and what the man said was nothing like the sensational headline or title. He was, I think, stating that he hoped doctors were getting good and thorough history,

Sounds like the Dems have learned the tricks to winning, the tricks that the Repubs were using, but are unaware of, despite being highly trained in the art via their religious practices and up bringing.

Power of belief. Power of focus.

Awwwwww your awesome!! Tysm for the apology. I get your sick of it however...obviously we need to Dicuss this because lately people are making Un-educated remarks where rape is concerned. By talking about it...maybe we can change some minds....

In your post that I yelled about...I know you were NOT sticking up for what the politian's were saying...I just thought it was way rude to say you were sick of seeing people talk about it. Sometimes..that's all victims need is an ear...and again..maybe we can change some minds.

Tysm again for being a stand-up guy and admitting you might have offended me...Or others..(s)

I think one of the things people don't get IS the way it effects the rape victim forever. One of the things it does is take away that safe loving feeling that most people have with their life partner. Sex brings back the memory and often interferes forever with trust.

Also, if anyone has been robbed, your car or home broken into, you will know that it is not the missing items that are the hardest part of this experience, it is that feeling of loss of trust and never feeling like your safe and your things are yours.
Now think of the same thing only it is your very body violated. There is no bigger lock or key, you have to feel the vulnerability and loss and it changes everything forever.

I would hope that when a woman goes in to a physician with a rape issue, that physician will indeed ask her about perhaps her marriage
why on earth would any doctor ask a rape victim about marriage relations ??
why would any dr treating a rape victim assume the victim was married in the first place ?

this guy is so far out in left field, i doubt he could recognize a pregnancy.

Correction so far out in RIGHT field...

Im still rather rather unclear if he meant to say there is sometimes an issue with people claim7ng they were raped so they can easily abort, if hes talking about married women getting raped by the husband or what. I certainly dont take his statement as claiming women dont know when theyre raped. That wording is just to drum up an emotional response.

I hadnt considered the you cant rape your wife stance. Was a very good point.

I have really grown tired of the Republican party, not just recently but the latest deluge of dumbassery is rather astounding. Its obviously being milked with the elections coming up, but its still just mortifying our politicians are this dumb.

why would women report being raped to get an abortion, when it's already legal to get one despite the reason?? please make sense of you statement.

Yes, there is something that your missing. An interest in the unborn. Just my opinion and you are entitled to yours. Before I became a father and an uncle I had a more liberal stance on this issue. Mainly that is was none of my business. But, after a difficult pregnancy, my wife gave birth to two beautiful girls who fought and struggled for their first 10 days after being born. They were preemies who fought and won!! That entire experience changed me forever.

Regarding legitmate issues of rape, incest or danger to mothers I do believe that it is still the choice that needs to be made between the mother and God. Perhaps that one ultrasound may be just enough to give that unborn child life. Either with his/her mother or via adoption.

We live in a very selfish world....

I don't see it as "selfish" to not bring a kid into a bad situation. Sometimes it is selflessness that causes the choice of abortion. Maybe a woman wanted the child but knows in her situation the kid would only suffer.

Many adapted out kids are messed up forever wondering why their Mother never wanted them, wondering what and who they are. The Mother has to wonder her whole life at each face she sees...could that be my child.

Removing a clump of cells before it becomes a person hurts who? Not being born would not have hurt me in any way as I would have never known about it!

Fighting for women's rights to their own bodies.

Some people want 14 year old girls who made a mistake or were raped to go back to taking some poison herb to abort or finding a nurse that will try and abort under unsafe conditions.

That is what happens when society decides to force a life long effect on a girl by passing a law.

I just wonder what men would say and think if a panel of old, white-haired women, spouting "freedom", decided that men shouldn't have access to vasectomies. You know they would go NUTS!

Which, by the way, is covered by medical insurance and Medicare. Funny, woman's contraceptives and abortions in case of rapes/incest should be banned from Medicare coverage, but Viagra will still be covered. Congress is really showing it's priorities there.

Both parties have their idiots, but I have to say the republicans take the cake. It's too bad the true republican conservatives have to support the extreme radicals and morons that make up their voting segment. The republican party will end up shooting themselves in the foot.

Idaho Republican Wonders if Women Even Know What Rape Is

In the wake of Todd Akin’s moronic and ignorant comments about “legitimate rape,” you would think the Republican Party would have the good sense to just shut the hell up about rape in general. But no, they just can’t help themselves as they stand in judgment of the female race, like some sick and twisted wanna be paternal figure who’s really a closet sadist.

Take, for instance, Idaho Republican Chuck Winder. Winder [snip] is wondering whether women, mindless, fragile women, are capable of knowing what rape even is. Addressing his detractors — women’s groups who claim his double ultrasound law traumatizes women who are the victims of rape and incest, and for whom there are no exceptions — Winder wondered in March of this year:

“... I would hope that when a woman goes in to a physician with a rape issue, that physician will indeed ask her about perhaps her marriage, was this pregnancy caused by normal relations in a marriage or was it truly caused by a rape ...”

Sounds like he's advocating that a husband can force his wife to have sex simply because they're married or something. I have to wonder what he considers to be "normal relations in a marriage" and what he considers to be rape and why these assholes are trying to say ONLY THEY know what rape truly is. How IS that? I'm VERY curious now.

If she's saying she was raped and wants an abortion, how many questions and doubts is she supposed to endure to prove that she was raped? This is the whole problem with this issue. HOW will women prove they were raped? And how far will the law go to make her prove it? How invasive will they be?

The fact that she's pregnant and DOESN'T want a child is enough for her to have an abortion. The whole idea that we need law and doctors to approve a medical procedure is INSANE!

Indeed they have to go through hoops, having mandatory ultrascans and shown the fetus and given a lecture before they're allowed to have an abortion.

Doesn't sound right to me.

I find your condenscening attitude toward BH extremely offensive. You don't know why she doesn't have children, you don't know what she has been through, and her reason for not having children is none of your effing business.

I know women who can't have children and it kills them. To say this to somebody is not only rude, but heartless.

I can take it the other way too you know. You procreated, big freaking deal. 3 billion other people procreated as well. Ants and mice do it. Here is a cookie.

You decided to have kids. Good for you. You chose your family planning. It doens't give you the right to choose it for others.

If you are so worried about unwanted children, you should of adopted instead.
