There are different degrees of gaffes. Some are much more HARMFUL than others.
"57 states" - silly, yes, but not harmful.
"Is our children learning" - silly, yes, but not harmful.
"'Legitimate Rape' doesn't cause pregnancy" - truly horrific, misogynist statement. This wasn't a gaffe - this was an intentional statement. The speaker of such a statement has no business in politics where he might have any influence over women's issues.

Well, yes... to a degree. I do think that.
Their FIRST thought was to remove religion from politics and politics from religion by separating the Church and State.

BH? In another thread you basically told me the LAW is where it is on abortion and that my opinion is not based on anything because it doesn't fall in line with the LAW.

The ENTIRE GOP may not buy into it, but if it's the Official Platform.
No. It's not. The GOP party platform is 'no abortion ever'. That's NOT what people are upset about in regards to AKIN. His comments that raped women can prevent pregancy automatically and his language about making a difference between 'rape' and 'forceable rape' are what people are (RIGHTLY) upset about.
Wake up ... both democrats and republicans have mouthy idiots
