1. He alienated to many people with way more military, strategic and tactical knowledge than he has. His continued mandate to transform the military in war is inherently danderous. Powell doctrine in GW1 is just common sense. I believe he was secdef under Ford, but still not good.

2. I can only speak from experience. A girl I was dating was raped and I know what she went through. Why should she have to suffer even more. The Morning After pill is a good way to avoid unwanted pregancies and it is not up to men to make that decision.

3. Most if not all Supreme Court Judges published some sort of legal arguement or brief and he does not have enough experience.

4. I am only responding to the article, which I interpreted his college education was extraordinary but I believe he acts more on impulse than sense.

5. I donot understand homosexuality and I dont like seeing it pushed on us everyday. What I am saying is that are more important issues at this time.

6. I have no experience with stocks, but I remember Orange County CA lost almost everthing when their investments in late 90's busted. Is the Government going to give me a choice as to what stocks I can invest in?

7. Compromise is the necessity of a 2 party system. This is why nothing gets done in DC. No one wants to compromise.

8. Micheal Moore is a scumbag. Kerry should apologize for his generalization of everyone over there. My father served 2 1/2 years in Vietnam, but he was younger and if he learned that he was wrong, then it would be just like Bush's youthful errors.

9. IMO, religion has nothing to do with personal responsibility, disipline, consideration for others so a lack of religion cannot be blamed for the decline of the country. You do not have to believe in God to know what is right and wrong.

TEN REASONS TO VOTE FOR BUSH

1. To Create more terrorists and increase Al-qaeda recruiting around the world.

Oh yeah they loved us beforehand, thats why they kissed wtc right?

2. To turn the US into a complete pariah in the world.

That is cheap, 30 nations with us and yet you are mad cause France isnt one of them? Screw France.

3. To foster superstition and religious ignorance and squelch science.

Look, they still have no Proof. Go buy you a prios and hug some trees ok? We are to be stewards of the land, not slaves to it.

4. To pollute America's air with more Mercury, and to ravage Americas forests.

Well then you can start paying 13cents a kW/hr like I am becuase no coal plants can make electricity and the states budgets are in crumbles becuase of this attitude. Mercury has been around a long time, Still to be found in many creeks in California from the Gold Rush, even find it in my pan once ina while, 100 years later, damn polluting 49ers!

5. Because you love being lied to.

No I just dont let crackpots dictate sound policy......

6. To increase fiscal irresponsibility by giving tax breaks to Vampire Corporate America and the top 1% and by spending the future earnings of your children and grandchildren.

YOu dimwit, ever had a job from a non-for-profit company? 75% of the tax burdern is still payed ny the middle class if you count Social Security, Look the rich dont pay them, you want fairness, get a flat tax.

7. So we can go to war every time Bush's little voices start telling him things.

No but when buildings are hit by planes and countries that support the terrorist that use these type methods, yes.

8. To degrade human beings around the world. To erode civil liberties here at home and treat all foreigners with contempt and some as sub-humans.

So what we kiss the worlds ass when we are attacked? Bull#.

9. So Washinton can employ even more over-paid lobbyists than we already do.

I say lets do away with them and get term limits and repeal the ammendment that states how senators are chosen.

10. So when Bush decides 'God' has told him it is the end of the world he can 'push the button'.

Another Cheap shot, as a non-Christian you can feel that way, but we are a Christian nation still by in large, but we welcome all. Maybe we should just have created the American Empire in 1946? But that is not our style.

YOu really dont understand do you? We dont need an army to fight the battles of the Fulda Gap anymore...

2. I can only speak from experience. A girl I was dating was raped and I know what she went through. Why should she have to suffer even more. The Morning After pill is a good way to avoid unwanted pregancies and it is not up to men to make that decision.

Well that is tuff and I hope later in life that she doesnt wonder if what she did was right. That is a BIG problem with these abortions. Of the three cases, they are at least expalnable, but the 95% of them are for birth control.

BTW, you know how long the waiting list is in the US for Adoption?

3. Most if not all Supreme Court Judges published some sort of legal arguement or brief and he does not have enough experience.

Well it is touchy and can backfire as Bush Sr. found out.

Remember Judicate not legislate...

4. I am only responding to the article, which I interpreted his college education was extraordinary but I believe he acts more on impulse than sense.

Well ok, that is called conviction and not waffleing or indecision. He still will not call it a mistake because he knows he was right.

5. I donot understand homosexuality and I dont like seeing it pushed on us everyday. What I am saying is that are more important issues at this time.

Neither do I. Well yes but that is also a part of our nations destiny, a little bit here and a little bit there, sooner or later it isnt enough. Maybe I should be declared a minority since I am of German ancestry yet depise Germany? Can I qualify for some reperation money from the German people?

6. I have no experience with stocks, but I remember Orange County CA lost almost everthing when their investments in late 90's busted. Is the Government going to give me a choice as to what stocks I can invest in?

Well there are safer stocks, all he wants is for you to save 25% of what they take out and that is YOURS, not the Govs. Odds are, that 25% willl be worth alot more at the end. BTW If you die, you rkids get it instead of Uncle Sam.

7. Compromise is the necessity of a 2 party system. This is why nothing gets done in DC. No one wants to compromise.

True....

8. Micheal Moore is a scumbag. Kerry should apologize for his generalization of everyone over there. My father served 2 1/2 years in Vietnam, but he was younger and if he learned that he was wrong, then it would be just like Bush's youthful errors.

SO True.

There is a difference between youthful error and treason..ask your dad what he thinks of Kerry and wether your dad would like to know hwat is in them undisclosed docuemnts?

9. IMO, religion has nothing to do with personal responsibility, disipline, consideration for others so a lack of religion cannot be blamed for the decline of the country. You do not have to believe in God to know what is right and wrong.

The hell it cant, our morals are in a freefall....have been since before you were born, just gets worse and worse.

True you know what that difference is, it is called sin.

Don't worry Ed, Were out numbered by these socialist. But the first sign of a real fight, they put there nuts back in there womans purses. And turn there backs, on there countrymens demise.

United we stand folks. Lets finish what we started and get out. We need the oil. The Iraqies want to be free. Sadom was a mass murderer with his sons. And was and would have continued to devilope weapons to hurt us, and those around him.

Kerry needs to go back to his old job. What was it? OH, doing what Teddy tells him to do.

EDD:

I am actually enjoying this. Since I have been on ATS, this is the first running discussion I have had.

1. YOu really dont understand do you? We dont need an army to fight the battles of the Fulda Gap anymore...

Actually I do. I am not someone of the people against Bush saying he lied about WMD. Common sense and history shows this to be true. Also I have served in the military, still have friends in the military. I know some of what Rummy is trying to do is right (putting SF troops more in charge of counter-terrorism operations and taking more control over theatre operations), but for the most part he has not really impressed me.

2. Well that is tuff and I hope later in life that she doesnt wonder if what she did was right. That is a BIG problem with these abortions. Of the three cases, they are at least expalnable, but the 95% of them are for birth control.

Here we have a difference of opinion. I do not believe life begins at conception. There is proof that a fetus has a heartbeat at an earlier time than originally thought, but I still believe use of RU486 is necessary, as well as the belief that punshing the victim of rape by forcing her to carry to term is wrong. Maybe only 5% of abortions have prodeuced a pregnancy but it still not a man's decision.

3. Well ok, that is called conviction and not waffleing or indecision. He still will not call it a mistake because he knows he was right.

I know he can not call it a mistake. That would mean that those who have died would have died for nothing. I believe we should stay to make sure that does not happen. I still do not think we should have gone. If the Iraqis really wanted freedom they would have fought for it themselves.

4. Well there are safer stocks, all he wants is for you to save 25% of what they take out and that is YOURS, not the Govs. Odds are, that 25% willl be worth alot more at the end. BTW If you die, you rkids get it instead of Uncle Sam.

You need a job first.

5. There is a difference between youthful error and treason..ask your dad what he thinks of Kerry and wether your dad would like to know hwat is in them undisclosed docuemnts?

My father died recently. As a matter of fact my family will be taking his remains to Arlington on the 19 of October. He hated protestors with everything he had, but he also thought Bush was not right with Iraq. He also taught me to think for myself.

6. The hell it cant, our morals are in a freefall....have been since before you were born, just gets worse and worse.

True you know what that difference is, it is called sin.

Our problems come from a lack of responsibilty. I will agree that religion has some bearing on this, but I think holding people accountable for their actions is more important (like draconian punishments for crimes)

Even though I do not believe in God I have no problem with school prayer as long as it is not mandatory. I see no problem with displaying the 10 Commandments in public nor do I have an issue with the Pledge of Allegience in it's present form.

What it comes down too, in my opinion is that this country has gotten so deliberate in it's idealologies that it is hard to see some people are neither conservatives or liberal. but actually engage in a common sense approach to life and politics.

I enjoy discussions like this that are civil and considerate of other peoples views and beliefs.

Well good and thank you, I enjoy this also

Well he has me, I think he was distracted by the war actually, that is why in the beginning the generals didnt like him whilst the press did. He was cahnging the way things were done, Like Cheney did when he was cutting programs left and right

2. Well that is tuff and I hope later in life that she doesnt wonder if what she did was right. That is a BIG problem with these abortions. Of the three cases, they are at least expalnable, but the 95% of them are for birth control.

Maybe only 5% of abortions have prodeuced a pregnancy but it still not a man's decision.

Ok I can understand what you say, it is called "justifiable homicide" The part about punishing the mother is understandable, but doesnt change the fact that it is not the child's fault in how they entered into life. Thing is, that would be a bearable compromise, but that is not what has happened, we have changed it to convienence killing. In the old days, the teen who was pregnant was sent away to have the child and put it up for adoption. Many of these adults search for their birth parents today. Thing is , They are alive becuase killing them was not morally possible. The growth in abortion is sad. Those that fight for the "CHOICE" miss the point. If we could at least stop 1/2 of them, think of the lives saved. And there are plenty of adoptive parents to go around. We need to start somewhere.

3. Well ok, that is called conviction and not waffleing or indecision. He still will not call it a mistake because he knows he was right.

Well it is not just to free Iraq IMHO, it is to free the peoples that need the freedom so the hate that they have for the western world can change. It is the start of a change, iraq was just the most logical place to start and it got rid of a real scumbag

4. Well there are safer stocks, all he wants is for you to save 25% of what they take out and that is YOURS, not the Govs. Odds are, that 25% willl be worth alot more at the end. BTW If you die, you rkids get it instead of Uncle Sam.

You need a job first.

I do have one, and I lost my old one in the recession. These things are cyclic in nature, Bush just got hammered as he came into office. Things are picking up well now I would say and I ahve business reasons for saying this. Certain areas are still slow in recovery but others are booming again, while others never stopped. Things are not as bad as we are led to beieve by the mainstream media

5. There is a difference between youthful error and treason..ask your dad what he thinks of Kerry and wether your dad would like to know hwat is in them undisclosed docuemnts?

My dad is dead, and as a Korean War Veteran, he would have been disgusted by Kerry, and he probably was. He volunteered to go to Korea.
I buried him in 1991. Youthful error is one thing, but say to those in the Hanoi Hilton that it was that. See what reaction you get from those that had to listen to Kerry's speeches while eeating 1 bowl of rice a day between beatings. I will not even go into the reaction to the troops when they got home, but Kerry fostered this attitude. It disgusts me that this man wants or even thinks he is honorable enough to be CiC. That is why he will not release his military records(all of them). I think the revelation would doom his Bid and maybe his Senate seat.

My father died recently. As a matter of fact my family will be taking his remains to Arlington on the 19 of October. He hated protestors with everything he had, but he also thought Bush was not right with Iraq. He also taught me to think for myself.

My Condolences, yes think for yourself, I agree, but consider the "whole" picture...

6. The hell it cant, our morals are in a freefall....have been since before you were born, just gets worse and worse.

Couldnt agree more, so lets let a liberal democrat be the President?I am puzzled at how that makes sense in Kerry's case

Even though I do not believe in God I have no problem with school prayer as long as it is not mandatory. I see no problem with displaying the 10 Commandments in public nor do I have an issue with the Pledge of Allegience in it's present form.

Well then fine, no probs, but as I see it, the governement wants to legislate GOD out of my life, so what I ahve to worship indoors so I dont offend anyone?

What it comes down too, in my opinion is that this country has gotten so deliberate in it's idealologies that it is hard to see some people are neither conservatives or liberal. but actually engage in a common sense approach to life and politics.

I hope those days return m8, someday

I enjoy discussions like this that are civil and considerate of other peoples views and beliefs.

Well so do I, We disagree on things and thats fine. We voice our opionions and then we vote, btw....Iraq will be doing that soon

I cannot really see the job growth. I have been out of work for over a year. Honorably dicharged vet, college grad. Have gone to employment counseling. My disability gets in the way of the only jobs in the area. Too many V.A. appointments and meds.

2. Couldnt agree more, so lets let a liberal democrat be the President?I am puzzled at how that makes sense in Kerry's case.

Actually has nothing to do with the debate, just equal protection under the law. In this I mean that all punishments should be mandatory leaving the personal feelings of the judge out of the equation.

3. Well then fine, no probs, but as I see it, the governement wants to legislate GOD out of my life, so what I ahve to worship indoors so I dont offend anyone?

I do not believe anyone should have to hide their religion. We just need to grow up as a society and stop this political correct B.S.

4. I hope those days return m8, someday

I agree. Do not want to sound stupid, but what does m8 stand for.

*As a note I have just heard about this SF180 issue. If Kerry was dishonorably discharged then he should not be allowed to run. The Dems should have nominated Clark instead, but he screwed up while hanfing around MM.

Sorry to hear that, if anyone deserves to be 'taken' care of , Vets do.
What is your job decription?

Agreed but that is not how they legislate. Can the criminal be cured? maybe on the 5th time through the system...??It is the scale of punishments, I almost admire the Islamic ways even though they cross the line...very little crime there. We need to do better and not keep giving the same criminals multiple chances when it is obivious it will not work. I would like to see Kerry's record as DA, bet it would be a good one huh?

Well they way I see it going here the last few years ~90's on, is that all descrimination against religion is outlawed, EXCEPT for the Christians.
Example, 10 Commandments in Alabama.....It is not OK to offend anyone unless its a Christian..It is the way I feel and see........it.

4. I hope those days return m8, someday

It is a slang for 'buddy' from the Aussies, I use it quite a bit becuase I like it and have Aussie friends. You know G'Day mate

better watch that , as I have said, I am not so pro-Bush, just so anti-Kerry. I mean wasnt it bad enough with Clinton

When it comes to crime, I think that 3 strikes and your out is too liberal. I do believe that some Islamic punishments should be instituted here.

1. Mandatory death penalty for rape, child molestation, murder, (regardless of whether it was 2nd degree) I also think the same punishment should be given to drunk drivers who kill someone.

2. Armed robbery convictions should include the loss of the hand. They will only do it twice.

I could go on and on but it would take to long.

As far as the debate tonight, Bush said that he has increased spending on V.A. services. I do not know how to post a link to a web site so I copied some info on his 2005 budget.

This is info I got from SFTT.org

At the same time that the VA is trying to carry out its responsibilities to care for the Terror War Veterans, Congress and the Bush administration are actually moving to cut the VA budget. President Bushs VA budget request for 2005 calls for reducing the DVA staff that handles benefits claims by more than 500 personnel, and critics charge that the overall funding will be grossly insufficient to cover the new demand for services.

As a veteran you should check this out. The site is run by David Hackworth. Just to let you know he is very opinionated about the D.O.D. but he does have the experience to back it up.

Agreed.99%............but we might have to change the definition a bit, depends on what the definition of is is.

Agreed 100%

2. I want someone too spineless to veto a SINGLE spending bill.

3. I want someone too weak-willed to balance the budget.

4. I want someone who spends 120 billion and counting to invade a country with NO WMDs, NO connection with Al-Qaeda, NO connection with 911.

5. I want someone who doesn't listen to his generals but hears only what Rumsfeld and Cheney telling him what he wants to hear
*whispering* "We can run a war 'on the cheap'" "We will be greeted with cheering masses throwing rose petals", "We can do this with less troops", "We don't need a plan to win the peace", "This is a slam dunk"

6. I want someone who will appoint an ex-lobbyist for the accounting firms as SEC head, instead of protecting the small investors.

7. I want someone who's FCC will give away a wish list of rules to big media over and above the overwhelming protests of the Ameican people.

8. I want someone who will make it ILLEGAL to buy cheaper drugs from Canada and force me to be price gouged by American Pharmaceutical companies.

9. I want someone who makes it ILLEGAL to save taxpayers dollars by allowing the group negotiation and purchase of drugs.

1. I want someone too spineless to stand up and say NO to Corporate America.

then niether candidate can you vote for

2. I want someone too spineless to veto a SINGLE spending bill.

Well I guess I would agree, unless the details are worked out beforehand and there is no point sending it to the oval office

3. I want someone too weak-willed to balance the budget.

Well they all want it, it is just what path of political suicide to atke to get it done

4. I want someone who spends 120 billion and counting to invade a country with NO WMDs, NO connection with Al-Qaeda, NO connection with 911.

I guess you had better read the news, there are connections with everyone except 911 so far.....soundbites are not always correct

YOu may have apoint except his commanders said they had enough to take Iraq in which they had MORE than needed. The Peacekeeping is another matter.....

6. I want someone who will appoint an ex-lobbyist for the accounting firms as SEC head, instead of protecting the small investors.

So you do you propose, George Soros?

7. I want someone who's FCC will give away a wish list of rules to big media over and above the overwhelming protests of the Ameican people.

What?

8. I want someone who will make it ILLEGAL to buy cheaper drugs from Canada and force me to be price gouged by American Pharmaceutical companies.

Go buy em and hope they are safe

9. I want someone who makes it ILLEGAL to save taxpayers dollars by allowing the group negotiation and purchase of drugs.

Well I agree this was stupid of Bush

10. I want someone who will play around with Social Security at a cost of 1 to 2 TRILLION dollars.

Then Kerry's your man!I dont give a # about SS as I will never see it.Ijust consider it another tax. I owuld love the opportunity to put some away and pass it to my children and not who uncle sam decides to give it away to

and Kerry flops so frequently

You need to get with the program. The Repub's tried to pin Kerry as a flip-flopper, it didn't work, so now instead of saying he was on EVERY side of every issue, they just try to say he was to the faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar left of every issue, duh!

Wonder if labeling Kerry as an extreme liberal will stick to him better than labeling him as a flip-flopper?
