But why bother modulating an LED light in the room where it's listening to you? It's a lot easier to just have the thing send it up the power line using an RF carrier, like a power line modem. In fact, every electrical device in your home, including things you might not otherwise suspect, like light sockets and wall switches, COULD be doing this RIGHT NOW.

Ermmmm, that is just marketing hype. All laptop monitors are still LCD, the onliest thing that happened was that the backlightning changed from CCFL to LED's. The rest of the screen is exactly the same as what it has been. In the future things might change as OLED displays of that size becomes affordable.



Yup! Many people fall for it, but the difference is the backlight and not the screen itself. LED TVs are more energy-efficient, they don't have a better picture from just being LED.
