Murder is against the law. Except when it isn't. The age of the victim is the only difference.

So tell me why our fellow Republicans can try to say that abortion is murder and therefore wrong, but the same people are willing to send my fellow countrymen overseas to die for oil and sand?

It's all hypocritical. We shouldn't abort babies....and we shouldn't have war. Both are gonna happen anyway.

The difference is that unborn babies aren't signing up to join the Army.

I can agree to a certain point Beez.

Abortion is not a wide spread problem as many would make it seem. Something around 94% of all abortions are due to sever medical issues that pose a threat to the mother or child.

It seems illogical to me to compromise our personal freedoms in order to stop something that is actually quite rare.

And let's be honest, if we banned abortion.....it would happen anyway. Like pot smoking and prostitution. The least we can do is make sure these people can go to the hospital instead of some back-alley abortion.

94% are necessary? In all fairness, I'd have a difficult time debating the necessity of abortion if it ame to the life of the mother or child. In that case, I'd have to defer to the parents.

Beezer I wish I had better answers for these questions to offer. But I don't. Life's that way sometimes. There isn't an easy or clear answer. Do you value the mother more than the unborn child? The child more than the mother?

Sometimes all you can do is follow your morals and try to find what's least evil.

And on this one issue I always readily admit that my approach may not work for everyone. That is the present system we have. There are no mandatory abortions in the US - only voluntary ones.

And I don't think our men and women in uniform are signing up to die either. They want the GI bill, or a career choice that they may not have had as a civilian.

The point is that people have the freedom to make their own choices. Sometimes we are not going to agree with those choices. But once we take that freedom away......they will take our's as well.

People value the rights of the mother more because of Roe v Wade. It's been beaten into our cultural psyche.

To Sheepslayer etal. I'll simply say that my stance is set in stone, as I'm sure yours are as well.

I wish the real issues such as JOBS, UNEMPLOYMENT would be addressed.

Akin made a mistake, but needs to bow out. It doesn't matter if co sponsored anything. Hes an Idiot.

I'm sure these people co-authored a few bills, in their lifetimes. Just think of how many haven't been caught. Think of How many cant be caught, or convicted because of an opinion they express.

List of American state and local politicians convicted of crimes

I really don't want you at my doctor's appointment with me, but do you want me to go with you?
Seriously. How about discussing a govt mandate tracking your fat index, or your blood sugar or any other body issue, or how about what you eat or how you spend your money. The abortion issue is about whether the govt should make a mandate against the control of your own body, plain and simple. You don't have to like the procedure, but should not even know about it, leave these personal issues to the person. Have a little faith that the human race will still go on without the govt interferring.

Again, I'll just say this.

My rights, your rights end where anothers begin.

Have a nice day.

Its really too bad this thread was designed to make Ryan accountable, for what this man said, and use bills they co authored by both as an excuse for it.

In other words, Obama should be held accountable for the Patriot Act, NDAA, "Kill Lists", and so on...........

We are talking about the Presidential election, Right?

How many AMERICANS have died, because of failed Policy's, this ADMINISTRATION has?

Lets put ALL the bills on the Table.

It's not. It's designed to show that the candidate for the Republican VP has outdated and oppressive ideas where women's rights are concerned. Being a heartbeat away from the presidency, it's something I think we all should be aware of. This thread also shows that Paul Ryan supports the same Personhood Amendment that Ron Paul supports, which would outlaw all abortion and most contraception for women. I posted a thread about that here:
www.abovetopsecret.com...

Yes, Obama is responsible for extending the patriot act and the NDAA. We have threads devoted to specific topics. This one has nothing to do with Obama. There are other threads that discuss his involvement in other travesties. If you want to discuss Obama, please post in one of those threads.

Unfortunately, I think it goes much deeper than some stupid comment and that Ryan can be tied to him.

It's about the culture within the GOP in which they use their political power to stop people from doing what they are going to do anyway.

Abortion
Death Metal and Rap
Drug Use
Porn
Homosexuality.....and on and on

They try to control people's lives in an attempt to sterilize the environment in a way that makes them comfortable in their own skin.

But in the process they take a small bit of our personals freedoms with, and yet claim to be champions of the constitution.

And let's be honest.....guilt by association is a dirty trick. But it could be said that it's fair game when the GOP has done the same with Obama (Bill Ayers-Rev. Wright).

At least they could be consistent. If it's bad to use it against Ryan, it should be bad to do the same to Obama.

Word pretzel.

A womans right ends where another persons right begins.

The right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

And these rights belong to whom?

When do Constitutional Rights Begin?

"All persons born or naturalized in the United States...

In its ruling the Supreme Court majority determined that Constitutional Rights did not extend to the unborn. The Supreme Court did not determine whether or not an unborn child is a person nor settle the issue of when life begins. In its ruling the Supreme Court determined that a mother's Right to privacy superseded the Right to life of the unborn.

You are absolutely correct. I just happen to disagree with the ruling.

I know it's legal to murder the unborn.

I just don't agree with it. But that's just me I guess.

I'm sorry if you can compare yourself to a lump of multiplying cells in a petri dish.

Although that does seem to be an apt description of some recent GOP nominees, and most FAUX news watchers.

But I would love to see someone who cares so much about these dividing cells raise them and give them a college education.

I would be on your side of the argument then. But as they do not yet have a brain, or digestive system, I wouldn't call it a person.

1 reason romney and obama are not the same canidate.

1) romney is not a commie

So we're just going to turn this into a flat out political trolling thread? Pathetic.

I do love when people prove they dont know the meaning of words like "commie" though. Reminds me that those people arent worth the time....they just like to throw out buzz words to get a reaction.

Where do you draw the line? I know a catholic priest in my local area that thinks masturbation is taking a life. Does that mean all men are serial killers?

Fact is, we cannot agree on where to draw the line so let's protect the right of women/men to talk to a doctor and make the choice that is best for them.

But aren't the rights of the unborn igored?

Define the rights of the unborn. Go on. Ill wait.

Murder the unborn. Nice oxymoron.
