Federal court delivers split decisions on immigration laws in Alabama, Georgia

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Part of Alabama's immigration law that ordered public schools to check the citizenship status of new students was ruled unconstitutional Monday by a federal appeals court that also said police in that state and Georgia can demand papers from criminal suspects they have detained.

The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the Alabama schools provision wrongly singles out children who are in the country illegally. Alabama was the only state that passed such a requirement and the 11th Circuit previously had blocked that part of the law from being enforced.

Judges said fear of the law "significantly deters undocumented children from enrolling in and attending school ...."

So it is illegal to single out people who are in violation of the law. Additionally, we must not deter illegals from taking advantage of tax payer funded resources.

Living in Bizzaro World is far less novel than I imagined it would be.

Illegals get to pick and choose which laws they wish to follow without paying any consequences. It has cost us millions of tax dollars to give these illegals a free education.

Well, thats the Super Court itself and the 11th both saying Cops can check Docs and do something about criminal immigrants. Good..... It's a shame on the school part, as it means all the more education dollars going out to consumers who may..or may not be paying any taxes whatever to support the system. However, we can't win them all....and at least the law being enforced on the street cop level is upheld.

If one doesn't like the law, change it. That is how it all works.... We can't go changing things around because it seems like a good idea.... Oh..How liberals who scream on this issue would HATE the world daily if Conservatives could just go around redefining laws and how they get enforced...or not enforced. lol... Now that could get real interesting if two ever got to play that game.
