Comedian Phyllis Diller -- who paved the way for today's female comics -- has died, TMZ has learned.

Sources close to Diller tell us the comedian died at her L.A. home, surrounded by family. She was 95.

We're told Diller had recently fallen, hurting her wrist and hip, and her health had been on the decline ever since. She had been living in hospice care at her home.

It seems like 2012 is turning into a bad year for legendary celebrities. I think we can all agree that Diller helped shape modern comedy especially for female comics. At least she had a full 95 years of life and was able to be surrounded by those she loved at the end. RIP Phyllis.

Man talk about 'old school!' I recall her from my childhood, with Lucille Ball also. She was a pioneer and had a long life and career. Blessings to her family and RIP Phyllis.

I was watching a documentary over the weekend where she was interviewed, and man, that lady was as colorful now as she was back when I was a kid!

Enjoy your journey in the afterlife Phyllis Diller!

She was 95 and probably lived a fuller life than many of us will ever live.
RIP
