I really have no reason for asking this other than pure curiosity. I have always wondered if mods, site administrators, and owners can tell/see which mods/posters applauded, starred, and flagged posts/threads.

For those behind the scenes of ATS does your view of the forum allow you to see this or not?

Again I am just curious and it is something I have wondered about for awhile. TIA for any answers if you can give them.

Problaby !

I always knew the possibitlity that the mods
can see a list or thread and post that the member has starred of flaggued
they can then profile the member with a certain accuracy
what is the interrest of that member .. what topic does he support .etc
and then make statistics

ATS is like an advanced research center for the human brain activity
the data it collect with those stars and flags is important

but each site/forum already do that .. nothing to worry about

google is the biggest advanced center in the world
each time someone research a word .. the data is accumulated
at the end they can make a complete profile of each and everyone that use google
facebook is a more advanced center .. it collect personnal info and thoughs that people post

when all those center are regulated .. they just have to type a name in the machine
to see the most advanced complete profile of an individual

thats why internet can be dangerous .. its a big brain of information
it has connected billions of people in a big centralised web

I hadn't even thought about them being able to do it for those reasons.
I suppose it would be a good way to gauge how someone thinks. The question entered my mind mainly because of the Applause mods can give to members. I wondered if they were able to see who applauded what and if they ever get "fussed at" for maybe applauding certain things. Then that just made me wonder about the stars and flags as well.

I've been wondering about this myself for awhile now but keep forgetting to ask. I really doubt that there is a feature that indicates which member has starred or flagged. Kinda doubting there's one for applause too. Still been mildly curious.

I want to know what the behind the scenes look like. Is it like normal ATS with extra functions or an entirely different thing all together? Is there a Mod board? I would think so. How else are they going to make fun of us?

The mods can see what posts other mods applaud. Every action we take is logged to prevent bias. Applause, thread moves, post removals, etc.

Flags used to be visible to all members in our profiles as to who flagged what but that feature is no more. Today, we cannot see stars and flags. I like it that way, personally.

Thank you for taking the time to answer Ashley. I really do appreciate it. I really like that you can't see those either as I am sure it would change the way folks used them for the bad and the good.

I did assume you all could see who applauded what. but it is still nice to know. I figured that some rogue mod could applaud his/her good buddy 20 times a day for no reason at all if no one could see who was doing the applauding.

It would be interesting to see what ATS looked like when one was logged in as the owner/mod. I bet it's all glittery and stuff.

And you know they have a mod board... or else they would have to make fun of us in u2u and "flood control" would be in effect 24 hours a day.

They look pretty on the screen

The whole system is really based to allow ATS members to have a feedback system. Those who care about posts, theoretically receive more stars and flags on their better posts than their lesser attempts. It's all just a tool to allow you to see how you're perceived by others.

Oh and mine is an unofficial - based upon experience answer.

Star for you.... oh never mind wrong board

Back in the old days you could spend points on special things, like access to secret boards/topics you couldn't see unless you used your points. You could also buy secondary profile titles (which are free now) and other profile additions... all of which are free now, I think.

I remember back in the day, when I didn't have enough points to buy a black background.

That was my first purchase.

I wouldn't mind knowing either since Ashley said that you can not.

You cannot see who has stared or flagged your threads.

All staff actions are logged as Ash said, in order to preserve transparency among the staff, including applause.

But knowing which members gave stars and flags to which others? Not one bit.

I think we all enjoy that anonymity on ATS.

I sure do.

No you can't nor can anyone else.

I imagine SkepticOverlord could go into the system and find out but that would be a HUGE waste of time.

The only way you know is if someone posts Star and flag for you or pms you that they did. That's the only way

I don't know why I didn't think of that. Of course that is exactly what it is...I need to learn to do that.
