How is it possible for an intelligent being to be MORE than an intelligent being, even when vastly more intelligent than Earth humans (for example)? Using the G word requires believers in such a concept to assume exactly that. The G word - upper and lower cases - implies worship; worship equals slavery. No exceptions, and (again) please let's not confuse religion with spirituality. In short, the word is only a WORD.

Being asked whether or not one believes in "God" should not be accepted as a yes or no question. It should be considered an IRRELEVANT, meaningless black hole of a question where one's mere belief has no bearing, at least effectively, on reality, whatever and whomever truly exist in the intelligently unseen (IU). The existence of an alleged Creator of the universe is something that absolutely NEVER can be proved. Even if a "magical" being manifested here and performed feats of unknown, undefined SCIENCE far beyond anything any of us have imagined or CAN imagine even remotely, such displays STILL could never PROVE creation of the universe! Being forced to believe in the unproveable is the epitome, or definitely close enough, of cruelty, slavery.

Forced? No one is FORCED to believe in "God," right? Religious people always claim, "God doesn't want mindless robots; He gives us free will to make our own choice to believe or not." Bull#! It's just a question of how much of the utter lack of choice in such belief is hereditary, genetically engineered - by malevolent ETs or nonhumans untold millennia ago (and perhaps subsequently) - and how much is environmental brainwashing, peer pressure of the most severe kind. Either way, nature or nurture, or in a combination of the two, the believer-worshipper is captured, enslaved without choice. Free will my fuzzy hind end, or clearly there is not the substantial level of overall free will as apparently most people believe there is... There are also those who feel obligated to SAY they believe (in the religious sense) versus what they privately, contradictorally REALLY think and feel about the notion of a "God." They are sadly owned, enslaved by groupthink, the mob mentality. No free will in that either.

True, there are people who have been raised religiously, or were otherwise religious for a long time, who have been able to deprogram and move forward, but those are much more the exception than the rule.

This is not even getting into the obvious political problems caused, at least primarily or originally, by religious believers, and particularly Abrahamics (Jews, Christians and Muslims, the original Unholy Trinity), who are by far the most problematic globally.

Religion, anything organized or merely named, is plainly not required to live a happy, moral-ethical life of good conscience and values AND - surprise! - connect to the power of the (at least as yet) unrevealed, or again, the IU. Traditional atheism and agnosticism are NOT the ONLY alternatives to religion! It's all about having a much stronger connection to the IU based on knowledge, or more accurately, the serious DESIRE for knowledge, not faith, or faith with any significant enough amount of blindness, ignorance, factual deficiency. Faith shmaith, the existing knowledge base is enough to begin the journey. There is good enough evidence - for those who are familiar enough with and emotionally able to register it - of (genuine) psychic phenomena, UFOs, close encounters and plenty of other manifestations of the unexplained and "miraculous" to know that SOMETHING of the unseen is going on; it's entirely real. There's just no reason, no need for the primitive, superstitious assigning of "God" to that which is actually undefined science.

Of course I don't pretend to KNOW whether or not there really is some kind of Supreme Being, say, for at least THIS planet and (presumably) solar system; there's just no way I could ever outright believe without proof.

All intelligent beings have equal rights of equal access to all knowledge, provided they can properly comprehend and morally-ethically use it.

I used to use the same argument when I had no faith. How wrong I was. Proof is all around you, but yet you'd rather create a rant trying to convince others that there must be 'proof' of the unseen in order to truly prove His existence.. Why don't you try humbling your mind and heart and simply pray to Him? What is stopping you from approaching Him for your answers? Are you afraid that you will become a 'slave'? If that's the case, please understand that your mind is already enslaved to the prince of this world who will be going to destruction.

I don't respond to any predictably religious replies - those who assert their mere beliefs as though they are facts - just to let you and any others know once and for all. I will always maintain that beliefs, lack of facts, is THE biggest problem among humanity, whether it be in religion by the traditional definition, or in the similar enough blind faith in the entire secrecy-BASED concept of government.

Cannot fault most of your statement, but do wonder at the notion/s of "moral", "ethical" and "conscience".
Aren't each of these derived from some of that historical religious nurturing?
Even counting the philosphical constructs of the "ancient" Greeks as bases for such notions doesn't separate cleanly-enough from the God/gods concept...
I am, likewise, not so "sold" on Science to accept that all of the presently unexplained phenomena fit neatly into yet-to-be-discovered scientific explanations.
Realizing this was filed under "rant", your tone was not out of bounds. But, minus the emotional charge you apparently hold on the topic...much of your argument is based in what could otherwise be "open" to discussion.
Appreciate the thought you put into the topic.
Best Regards.

Where's your proof of "malevolent ET's" and "non-humans"?
Or is that just your particular faith?

People can't be forced to change their beliefs.

But they can be forced to conform to another's belief.

And Christians do it all the time.

Either believe as we believe and do as we saw or we'll punish you in anyway we can. That's their motto.

Our own pride is easily deceived into seeing g instead of G. Doubt creates fear and mistrust, because we are always skeptical of all the little gods running around taking credit for what God has demonstrated in nature. Plato said that the ascent of the mind runs through four stages.

1) Ignorance
2) Opinion (Right and Wrong)
3) Reason
4) Intelligence (NOUS)

This highest level of intelligence is best described by the word Nous. Mankind misses this pool of pure understanding if Opinion is wrong. The polarity of opinion then bleeds into wrong reasoning. If the will of the person is to take, then Intelligence and intellect will remain in a feedback look to Opinion. Rising above opinion requires fear to be removed by faith and trust. Faith and trust can only see by the light of truth and right opinion. Buddha outlined virtue as the Eightfold path.

1. Right View (Wisdom)
2. Right Intention
3. Right Speech Ethical Conduct
4. Right Action
5. Right Livelihood
6. Right Effort (Mental Development)
7. Right Mindfulness
8. Right Concentration

Where did Buddha go wrong? He missed the point of living. Suffering happens. True, but it is the point of all that is right. We can only give a gift forward if we suffer for what is given. Buddha said suffering can be eliminated. This is not quite accurate. Wrong suffering can be eliminated, but right suffering is required to have anything to give back.

Anyone who practices virtue will see God. Thieves have trouble seeing him and are caught in a feedback loop of dissonance. Buddha called it the Way. Philosophy calls it truth. Jesus said he was the Way, the Truth and the Life. Only Christ has the last part.

Why care about them? The ones who do this become truely unimportant by their own actions of preaching duality ideas and only show their ignorance of understanding and their limitation of understanding the next level. And you cannot teach people who do not want to listen and understand how ever much you want to. Do you really think the blessed ones connected to everything and feeling the oneness on the next level want people who preach them duality religious views and dogma and how they should behave against god all day long when they know god better than the humans?
You gotta love the laughts they gotta get from the humans acting like they know what they are talking about.

I agree, and if you don't mind, I'll add to your rant with my own:

The problem with the God of Abraham: www.abovetopsecret.com...

"Right off the bat, this God of the Bible has adversaries. In fact, one third of the population of heaven rebelled against this God. Why, we wonder. It was because of us. God loved us more than he loved those angels, and they got mad. What did he do? He gave the leader of this rebellion dominion over the earth, where he put Adam and Eve!

He created them. male and female, 2 fully developed humans. They never learned to stand or to fall down, never felt a mother's unconditional love or got a hug or a spanking. Then this God leaves them alone, while he goes off, who knows where, and leaves the devil to babysit.

Hey, a snake is a snake, everybody knows that. But God is surprised that Adam and Eve were seduced by the very guy who led one third of God's heavenly population into rebellion! So what does God do? He throws them out of the garden and curses the woman to sorrow in childbirth.

Then he continues to allow these rebellious "fallen angels" to rape the daughters of Eve, and bring forth monsters to torture the sons of Adam! Then he sends a flood and kills almost everyone.

Then fast forward to Moses, who got into trouble for killing an Egyptian soldier, and had to flee from Egypt. He sees a burning bush and hears a voice that tells him to do stuff, and he calls this voice God. He tells us that this God has rules for us to follow.

These rules are flawed from the get go! Of course the first rule is not to question God and we are ordered to obey, love and respect this God. Oh yeah, the law says not to kill too. I guess it was important to emphasize that since Moses was a murderer. And we are also told, in these ten commandments, that women are property, the same value as man's donkey, or ass, as the Bible says.

Then this supposedly loving God sends his son to be murdered by an angry mob, to cleanse our "sins" because he loves us so much! Only if we believe the story, are we saved from his own wrath. Then, we are promised the 2nd destruction of the world, by the return of a vengeful God, who is to separate the good people from the bad, who are doomed. "

Hope you didn't mind, OP!

Not faith, opinion, I should admit. Or I guess it's possible that some random fluke of nature, an odd mutation, is what initially caused so many to believe that all the power and glory is with "God" - or originally the "gods" - and adopt a fearful and subservient posture exactly like slaves.

Jesus himself - if he really existed - said something like, "Know that ye are gods, for the Kingdom of Heaven is WITHIN." That has to be the most profound statement in the New Testament, and naturally the one that is the most in-one-ear-and-out-the-other in Christianity as a whole.
