Anyone will still protect the pussy riot after this ?
they will lose many supporters now

Its over for the pussy riot when this cross touched the ground

Activists from the Ukrainian feminist group Femen cut down a wooden crucifix in the center of the country’s capital, Kiev, on Friday in support of members of the Russian punk band Pussy Riot whose trial on hooliganism charges comes to an end today.

A video posted online showed a topless blond Femen protester wearing red shorts, with the words “Free Riot” scrawled across her chest and arms, cutting the cross with a chainsaw and then pulling it down using arope pulled by two other activists, and then posing with her arms extended crucifix-style.

This is disgusting .. i hope she get arrested and get the same 2 yrs sentence
will anyone protect this shamefull act now ?
if you do then you are against the Creator himself
destroying such sacred religious items

i see only pure hatred in their message .. how can people listen to them
cutting a big Jesus cross like that, cant beleive they have done that

this girl will get jailed for eternity in the PIT
and you though 2 yrs was severe for waging chaos in a church

if they had a message for Putin
then why dont they go topless and protest in a putin speech ..
they wouldnt sentenced 2 yrs in jail for that
i would encourage them to protest at one of his speech ..
but arriving like masked terrorist acting violently in a sacred church toward the nuns
they really went to far
but this one with her chainsaw .. went beyong to far

You honestly think people expressing their opinion should be imprisoned?

Frankly I don't care what political statement this women was trying to make or how she made it, Her right to say it should be protected.

Once again I am reminded why America is still a great nation, if not a little bit tarnished.

They put people in prison for far less in the USA
and you know that

if they had something to say .. why they didnt go topless during a putin speech
why going in a church to spread hatred and chaos
those girls were apparently very violent with the peacefull nuns

at least they were not tazed
the 2 yrs they got was probably because they assaulted the nuns

So, in your opinion, if making that statement involves destruction of private or public property, then it's OK? If some one were to to something similar on or to your property, would you still feel the same way? Did you feel the same way when Los Angeles and London were burning in riots?

Making your opinion heard is one thing, vandalism and damage of property is another.

The cross was chosen because it was a shameful way to die, Christians choose it because of its shame, to remind us of the Sacrifice of Christ...

My God is not on a cross, and is not contained there in, it is simply a symbol.

Here are words of the man that died on that cross, maybe you should reflect more on them than his cross and what this women did to it.

John 8 3-7

But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. Early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people were coming to Him; and He sat down and began to teach them. The scribes and the Pharisees *brought a woman caught in adultery, and having set her in the center of the court, they *said to Him, “Teacher, this woman has been caught in adultery, in the very act. Now in the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women; what then do You say?” They were saying this, testing Him, so that they might have grounds for accusing Him. But Jesus stooped down and with His finger wrote on the ground. But when they persisted in asking Him, He straightened up, and said to them, “ He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.”

Nobody would go to jail in the US for cutting down a cross - unless it was the property of another person.

Personally I see the cross as a memento mori - or, literally, "a reminder of mortality"... How it came to be so iconic is contrary to the actual notions in the Bible, as I've read them. So I find no offense in the act because a cross means less to me than an empty tomb does.

OP
If your god is offended by the destruction of such petty symbols, then your god dont deserve to be worshiped
And if you think people who destroy such petty symbols deserve to get their freedom supressed, then you deserve the same.

Civil disobedience is just that, Disobedience.

Ill let a wiser smarter man than I answer you.

If a law is unjust a man is not only right to disobey it he is obligated to do so

-Thomas Jefferson

I am not saying she should not face punishment for her act, I am saying the OP should not be chanting in Gods name for her condemnation, NOR should any American for that matter.

Take it as you will.

Nice bit of spittle flecked Christian compassion and forgiveness there!
Talk about missing the point.

To make the world hear you have to shout very loud.
But the deaf will never hear it anyway.

Of course if it was an Islamic symbol, you all would be raging about "Islamophobia".

Dont believe me? Go back and look at some ATS rage about that pastor who burned the Koran. I've never seen ATS so defensive about a religious book.

well she was wearing safety goggles, so i think thats positive message.

but mostly i think these girls are idiots.

its good to bring attention to something you believe in.
stuff like this might bring attention, but it just gets over shadowed by people thinking their idiots.
