As moderator of Wednesday's presidential debate in Tempe Arizona, Bob Schieffer has spent weeks researching and developing the questions he will ask
each candidate. Schieffer has received plenty of suggestions about what questions to ask. With the debate centering on domestic policy, Schieffer
expects to address taxes, Social Security, health care and jobs, as well as gay marriage and Supreme Court nominees. But the one question on everyones
mind this election, he says, is clear: Which one of these men can make us safe from terrorist attacks?
The second-most common question people are asking concerns financial security "Are they going to have a job? Schieffer said Monday from his Wahington
office. "If they get sick, are they going to have the means to pay for that?" But odds are good, he says, the most important question won't be
among the 40 or so he will have written on the notepad in front of him. It will be the one that occurs to Schieffer as he listens to President Bush
and Sen. John Kerry, a question prompted by the candidates answers. "The good question is the one you use to follow up the answer,"said Schieffer.
After receiving over 250 questions, this should be a very interesting thrid
debate..
