That isn't quite what I meant. If an old car wasn't properly maintained you would pretty much have to rebuild it. Depends upon the owner but maintaining it is a lot of work. Oil changes at the very least. But there are not many 40 year old cars out there that have been used 24/7 and are still running great... Not without someone putting a ton of time and effort into taking care of the car.
