Anonymous Calls for Shutdown of Trapwire

rt.com

As details surface about a futuristic and frightening global surveillance network called TrapWire, members of the Anonymous collective are calling for citizens everywhere to voice their opposition and help end the system beginning this Saturday.

“As we learn about TrapWire and similar systems in the surveillance industry, it becomes more apparent that we must, at all costs, shut this system down and render it useless,” active members of Anonymous write in a press release issued early Thursday.

This article is from a Russian source, Russia Today. Russia has been constantly reporting on issues such as the Trapwire surveillance system (that is being used in both the U.S., Australia and U.K.), which is a highly advanced network of security cameras able to use facial recognition software to identify anyone's locations and actions.

I believe that both Anonymous and Julian Assange (who has a show on RT) have been active in releasing material about Trapwire. However, Assange, who has been holed up in an Ecuadorian embassy, is fighting being extradited to Sweden and / or the United States. Ecuador recently granted him asylum, but it is unclear how he is going to get there.

Russia Today reports that Trapwire could eventually be used to suppress political dissidents in what it calls "The American Empire."

I believe TrapWire to be a dangerous infringement on our privacy here in the West.

Just keep in mind RT has its own agenda, and it is to Russia what our Western MSM is to us. They love to bend the truth to suit their agenda and at times print outright lies.

It's worse than the MSM here - it is government owned and controled - it is strictly a propaganda mouthpiece, and why anyone on here gives it any more credit than that is beyond me.

Yeah, you are right, all newspapers have an agenda - which is why I like to go to many different ones.

Very true.

Maybe i should clarify myself: RT is to Russia what the CBC is to Canada!

edit. for those who dont know, CBC is government owned and very decidedly liberal. Odd, since we currently have a more conservative government in office. I just want them shut down or sold to private interests.

Whatever RT's agenda, I agree that trapwire should be shut down. From the little I've heard about it, it sounds very invasive, and like they're looking for "precrime". People who "might" do something.
Once you're on their radar.....

Maybe thats why they're wasting billions on the National Broadband Network here in Australia. So we can't hide anywhere, no matter how remote. scary stuff. Time to get a cap.

ROFL, am I the only one that believes that America is becoming a threat to the world almost like the communists of the 1950's? Our freedoms are being quickly eroded and it is now legal to be asked for your papers in Arizona. And now every little thing you do can be watched in amazing detail. We are becoming the new world monster.

People have been saying this for a long time. However, any criticism of America at all is met by "jealous, much?" and "USA!USA!USA!USA!USA!USA!USA!USA!"

America has been the biggest threat to the world since they showed they were more than willing to drop atomic weapons on another country.

American government is totally a threat to the world, but it seems to me like that is a completely different animal than the rest of the American population. While the government is busy suppressing its own people and waging war world-wide, I'm hanging out with friends, gaming and even communicating with cool peeps from around the world online through Skype and websites like ATS!

I just hope that things don't get ridiculously bad in the U.S. to the point where my lifestyle that doesn't hurt anyone is affected because of my humanitarian political views. Then I might have to enter politics and clean up house.

Manners and decorum means "censorship and banning if you don't agree with me" on ATS.
Time to post a message to Anon about this site...

Ok, this is just getting rediculous now! Why does no one research anymore?!? (No offense op, I know your just passing along info)

For those that know me, you know I'm a long time member of our tinfoil hat community. I've been around since before the Titor threads and pre 9-11 when this site was still mostly ufo pics and arguments about the jfk assasination, so those longterm members can tell you I am not a troll or a shill.

Recently I've responded to numerous Trapwire threads on here and other sites and have been completely blown off. I am not government or military, though I cannot tell you about my job. I can however tell you that I work with Trapwire -EVERY DAY!!!!-and I can tell you 100% with out at doubt this is completely bogus!

I've repeated myself over and over, and will probably be blown off here as well but I am going to give you all the truth about this program once again...which you can go to their website and read directly from them.

#1. This is a program that runs on a pc. It requires someone actively logged in and creating an incident log. It is not some autonomous system sinsterly running in the background recording everyones actions.

#2. The purpose of this program is so major resorts like amusement parks, large concert venues, or major resort casinos can track in real time on going suspicious incidents. The only time the program is active is when there is an ongoing suspicious active. A suspicious incident that would require a trapwire file to be created would be like some criminal testing security or an unknown individual taking pictures of major support structures of a building for the purpose of attacking the infastructure.

#3. The files created will at most be shared with sister properties and possibly local police if the incident warrents such. This is not something being used to track every citizen, nore does it even have the capacity to do so.

Most importantly!

#4. The program doesn't even support video!!!! So this crap about recording all street surveilance with this program is a blatant lie by Anon and others. The only thing the program has the capacity to do is share notes about the incident occuring and then a couple pics should you need to send a subjects photo or picture of their vehicle to another sister property so they can be on the look out for the inividual.

Again...this program does not support video!!! It cannot be used even close to what they are trying to claim here.

So there you have it folks, take it or leave it...but this trapwire B.S. is exactly that:

B.S.

If someone would truely like to know what the program is really about feel free to message me...but from hear on out I'm saving my breath.

I'm all for conspiracies, but there needs to be a little research before making the outragous claims wiki and anon are claiming.

You need to source your material before you accuse people of not doing their research. The cables are clear regarding their clients or desired clients and you are implicitly contradicted by the trapwire website...www.trapwire.com...

That said...to those who are bashing this story because it is RT...

Certainly, all media can be biased but if a story can be backed up then the story is correct and the source is a moot point when discussing the story.

anonpr.net...

This is a partial copy/pasta of the original anon release.
