I haven't tried "Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena", But I really want that game. I never got it or played it.

So what is your favourite Sci-fi game of all time?

Mine is Home World 2. They just don't make those games ever again.

Mass effect series, although the third one was probably the lesser of the series from a story perspective.

its a decent space epic.

summary with heavy spoilers from first game be warned.

I was a big fan of Bioshock but Mass Effect is certainly near the top as well.

Fallout 3 & Fallout New Vegas are good post-apocalyptic FPS/RPG games.

Area 51
i forgot about that game.

I just remembered when i was playing through the end, when you start running to escape the exploding ship, you see 2 gray aliens standing there so i just ran through up to one of them and did a melee attack on it and it flew right out the exit point
i think that part was what made me like the game alot more

Ah yes ... I should point out that I said "Bioshock" and not "Bioshock 2".

Hoping Infinite lives up to the 1st.

Yeah the 2nd wasn't done by the original studio, that's why it feels more like a DLC and not a full sequel.

The next one is being done by the original team so Im hopeful.

One of my favorites was AREA 51, which I played on the PS2/pc.
You can download it for free somewhere on the internet; however, my version had some kind of problem which prevented me from progressing past like halfway through the game. Anyway, You play this HAZMAT soldier or something that gets sent in to quarantine Area 51 due to some mysterious viral outbreak. You start out on the top levels, which are just your average run-of-the-mill offices, and you progress deeper and deeper into the bowels of Area 51. As you go further, the place becomes more and more bizarre... until you actually encounter the greys and basically enter "their" Area 51. Their agenda and the reason for the outbreak are part of the main storyline, and the game can be very enjoyable for anyone interested in sci-fi themed games.

Another game I liked was Red Faction (the first one), a game where you take part in an uprising in a mining colony on Mars that is ruled over very harshly by a totalitarian company.

Then of course there's all the DooM games (before DooM 3). Can't forget those. They'll never get old.

Finally, even though Starcraft 2 is a recent one, I think it deserves mention.

Its funny you should mention the Homeworld series, I came into this thread ready to say that the Dawn of War series of RTS games is my favorite sci-fi based video game. Homeworld and Dawn of War are both developed by Relic Entertainment, which is a developer under THQ. Dawn of War is based off the Warhammer 40,000 sci-fi fantasy universe, which has its origins in tabletop games. If you like Homeworld, then you should really give the original Dawn of War and its expansions a try because they're excellent. I can't speak for DoW2 and its expansions however because I dont have a good enough comp to run them.

I was diggin Mass Effect until the 3rd one kind of killed it for me. However, Dead Space 1&2 are way up there on my list. But I see some amazing titles coming up with Star Wars 1313 and Watch Dogs.

Edit: Almost forgot, the Portal series is amazing! The writing in Portal 2 was some of the best I've experienced in any game.
