So I ran across this claim elsewhere, and sure enough, it seems correct.

Try it.

Google Shopping

Searched for all kinds of stuff.... If it's drug/vitamin/supplement related....buttkiss..

Does anyone know why??

Spooky.

Because the Federal Drug Administration is trying to make the US citizen get a docter's prescription to purchase Vitamin C. FDA.

Don't want people to be smart or healthy.

Your link is a generic google search.

I'm talking about Google Shopping.

Funny thing. I don't know. Maybe someone tried a lawsuit and google chickened out bc of being too poor to have to pay legal fines for which the USA are wellknown?

Just found this:

Google turned off Shopping functions for vitamins, supplements and other healthcare products on 28 June, without advance warning or explanation

Google turned off Shopping functions for vitamins, supplements and other healthcare products on 28 June, without advance warning or explanation.

For example, if you Google “vitamin C” the Web search returns 94.7 million results; if you then click on “Shopping” to find sellers, the shopping search returns zero results.

It’s as though no one’s allowed to sell vitamin C via Google Shopping. Even “Bayer aspirin” is blocked.

Google publishes a list of products in this category that are blocked as a matter of corporate policy in the public interest. So shopping results for steroids are always blocked. We’re talking about something completely different here: Google is blocking whole categories of respected, brand-name products like One a Day vitamins from online shoppers for no stated reason.

We’re sellers of vitamins and supplements and trying to determine whether Google’s lack of results is a policy change or a goof, temporary or permanent. Of course, our business is severely hurt by this situation. We rely on Google — and pay them — for including our name among all other sellers, and all sellers are in the same boat.

Google, please don’t be evil. Be responsive to vendors whose businesses you’re kicking over. Tell us what’s going on by your blocking shopping results for vitamins and supplements.

Holy cow!!!!!!

Why don't more people know about this????

WTF?

This guy just thought it was broken.

But a comment below says:

It's not broken - I have a contact at Google and they have made the Vitamin category a "sensitive category" and will not be showing results for google shopping/product listing ads. It is unknown if this is a permanent change or if this will be fixed once they have reviewed all of the products in the Vit/Sup category. It's unfortunate and very stupid that they did not send advertisers involved a warning message or notification of any kind.

This actually really pisses me off!

Why does it work in Europe?????

Dunno. The links do lead to .de sites so it is something definitely restricted to the states. I haven't tried looking stateside for specific areas, will try. . . .
