Whether it is chards, motions, overseas ballots, whatever it may be to you, the 2000 US Presidential election was close and memorable. The same should hold true for the upcoming 2004 election. We are looking at either, another four years of the Bush administration, or a possible eight years of the Kerry administration, you help decide the outcome on November 2,2004.

I was driving to my daughters today and saw the usual lawn ornaments for the upcoming election. One in particular caught my eye. "Vote Bush Out!" Is this what the election is truly coming down to? We all have heard the phrase, "Anybody but Bush". I have been saying for awhile now that this election will come down to whom the voter dislikes the least. Is this any way to Vote? Is this how the Presidency will be decided? I hate to say it but I think so.

To me it is absurd to vote in this manner, but I am sure most will. I believe most people outside of the ATS Community and maybe inside, take everything at face value of what the candidates and their supporters tell us. Politics is Politics, always was and always will be. The key here is to read between the lines and research, research, research. Bush, Kerry, Cheney, and Edwards misled the public during the debates. Yet most people do not even know. It is taken at face value and 110% truth, but when it comes down to it, it is not. Arguments can, and are being made for both parties. Spin, Spin, Spin. Why would you want to 'Spin' truth, if that is the case? I have yet to see the "Big" networks and writers take a totally unbiased side. I saw on MSNBC that they were pointing out Bush, or Cheney's mistakes and misquotes after each debate, then over at Fox they were doing the same thing for Kerry, and Edwards. CNN, from what I have watched, did not do either. This does not mean that CNN is not biased, they did not even bother to point out to the American, and International communities the mistakes of either candidates. In my opinion not reporting the "Facts" is biased. I had not seen any post-debate coverage on CBS or ABC.

The Swift Boat ads, Fahrenheit 9-11, Memogate, we all know the list. These are points from supporters, or haters who are not involved with the candidates themselves. Again these points do not hold 110% fact. While Bush haters find joy in Michael Moore's movie, and Kerry haters find joy in the Swift Boat ads, this is not what the election comes down to. The election comes down to which candidate will best run The United States of America, first and foremost, and by doing this it will set an example for the rest of the free world.

Another downside to the US elections is non-involvement towards third party candidates.

Any who have correctly applied to be involved in the debates were turned down. How is this a fair and free election?

To use as an example, my questions to a Bush supporter and Kerry supporter at work:
Q: Why are you voting for Bush?
A: Because my parents are.
Q: Do you know any of the issues he is for and against?
A: No

Q: Why are you voting for Kerry?
A: Because he is not Bush.
Q: So if I told you Wild E. Coyote was the Democratic candidate, you would still vote against Bush.
A: Yes

With three weeks away from the big show, the choice is in our hands. No matter who your candidate of choice is, please understand WHY you are choosing them, and not in spite of the other. You have to take the good and the bad, and vice versa. Nobody is perfect. Please understand the interests that matter most to you, not to anyone else. The outcome could possibly have a severe effect on the way we live, in one way or another.

The choice is yours.
