I have had it!!! In the last year I have had several surgeries, and am just sick of doctors so worried about patients and pain relief!!!!! I just had emergency surgery for cysts on my ovaries, and it was more complicated once she opened me up. So I was in surgery for 3 hours. After surgery I was mysteriously "dropped" somewhere between surgery and recovery??? Didn't know it at the time as they released me to go home with a bruise running from my shoulder to my thigh. They just said it was from the operation
Nooo I had 3 cracked ribs and was readmitted the next day for extreme pain. The doctors still did not know that I had broken ribs and kept saying the pain was from the surgery. I found out the following week from my family Dr that I indeed had broken ribs. Even while in hospital they were reluctant to treat the pain. It's ridiculous!
After my OBGYN found out about the ribs she was freaking out saying it wasn't her fault it was the hospitals fault. As a result my back is messed up, I have a cracked tooth, and 3 broken ribs, and can't breathe well. Upon my follow up my husband asked her for some pain meds and she freaked saying they are addictive and she doesn't prescribe them. My husband said it was their fault I was in all this pain and she should treat me accordingly. She gave me 10 pills???? Now I don't care if the entire planet is addicted to pain meds that's not my problem. It is crazy that someone should go through all this, and not be help with the pain because they are afraid of those that are addicted!!! I just went through surgery and was not on anything before so that should prove that I am in pain now. Pain caused by them.
Also I am seeing a new Dr who has now stated that I need my uterus removed and my other Dr should have already done that at the same time. So now another surgery. I have done some research on the net and it seems lots of people have experienced this with pain and doctors. It is ridiculous that people should be in pain when they have medications to stop it. That what they are there for!!!
Doctors need to treat people as individuals based on their circumstances! Not lump everyone together as just drug seeking. This has just gotten ridiculous!!! That is their job. That is my story so far.. will update soon. can you say lawsuit??

Did they drop you off the table???? With your injuries, that is sure as heck what it sounds like! Time to get an attorney if you ask me!

Hope you start feeling better!

Wow, do you have a dollar sign stamped on your head or something? I am sorry to hear of your woes, but yea we get shuffled around all the specialists too often these days. The insult to injury, pun intended, is the waivers we have to sign prior to surgery, basically reliving the practitioner of any liability, such as sewing a pair of hemostats in side a person or doing the wrong procedure. You can't get the procedures done without signing. Be careful of MRSA too in all your visits/stays, that stuff is everywhere in the hospitals.
The only thing I can think of is shop around different doctors until you find one you feel is honest and not too quick to push surgeries on you, unless that is the consensus. Try a warm sea salt bath for some pain relief maybe.

Best wishes,
spec

I don't know. It happened between the end of surgery and getting back to the recovery room my husband was waiting for me in. My doctor said it looked like they dropped me or forgot to put the railing down on the bed and threw me into that. I only weigh 93lbs so I am very light. She said they could have "misjudged" my weighed and used too much force??? Yes we are seeking legal help as I have been stuck in bed for 6 weeks on bed rest for the broken ribs. I have a dentist appt tomorrow to see how bad the tooth is and an mri set up this week for my back.I had back surgery 6 years ago and it has been great until now. I am having a lot of the same pain I had before the surgery so I am hoping they did not rupture a different disc!!!!

Tell me about it! My doctors work less hours than I do, get paid 10x more, and all they do, at best, is diagnose a cold!

Took them 3 years to tell me I had a herniated L4-L5 disk, they spent years calling me a hypochondriac!

They refuse to diagnose me with SI joint dysfunction, when I now have to do my OWN physio to pop it back into place, they haven't diagnosed my Iscial Bursitis, that I've suffered with for nearly 5 years!

And they haven't found the route cause of my anemia, that I've had indefinitely.

Lucky for me, I spotted on the back of my contraception the other day, that it may cause osteoporosis, that may account for my spinal problems!!

Unfortunately, I cant take that damage back now!

Ohh well, Turn 21 next month, Ill just keep on keeping fit with me cardio and boxing,

I seriously don't know why these people have jobs!!

Frankly, I don't think your problem will be finding a lawyer willing to take your case, I think it'll be fighting them off with a stick once any word gets out about what happened to you. Letting my thoughts run a moment, for an attorney, it's as good as a case ever gets. Serious, proven and ongoing injury with pain that can't really be argued.....yet with NO idea what abuse or mistreatment caused it.

Now...off that dream of every Malpractice attorney in the nation...because you do fill it, I'll bet.

I sincerely hope you get AWAY from those doctors and quickly. They hurt you and they know it. They opened themselves up enormously and they know THAT too.... I'm afraid at this point there would be more than a small trust issue and I mean really trust that they have the right motives for everything that happens going forward. You have their absolute worst nightmare in your back pocket, IMO...and they're just hoping like hell you don't fully realize it. That's my opinion. I wouldn't even see one of that specific set of doctors again unless directed to by an attorney at this point.

Completely agree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know that there are people out there that just get pain med or whatever but now all doctors are sooo worried about that they fail to treat individuals!!! People need to be treated and if pain med is needed then do so. But they are afraid of I guess being sued?? Not sure?? I just know that it is completely out of hand. To let people suffer in pain is contradictory to their job. They are paid to help us with pain etc!! That is their job. Not policing the drug market. Again I don't care about drug seeking people I care about my medical treatment and pain. These are two different things! Drug seekers are not my problem and I shouldn't have to suffer because of a few bad apples!!!

yea I think the only reason the my obgyn gave us the 10 pills was she is afraid of us. She knows this could be bad for her as I was under her care even though she did not actually drop me.

Yikes, that hurts. There are some incompetent doctors out there. Parkland Hospital here in Dallas accidentally gave a kidney to the wrong patient. Good lord!

You have to sign away your rights when you deal with anybody these days... Car dealers even have you sign a waiver saying any disagreement with them is to be handled by a mediator they get to choose... Being in pain is much worse than the chance you will become addicted to the medication... I have been taking morphine for over 5 years and had taken methadone for 5 years before that... Am I addicted? I would say so but I function much better with the drug than I could when in constant pain.... Funny that my doctor was quick to put me on staten drugs that caused pain that over powered the morphine and caused my muscles and mind to atrophy as well as being a factor in my developing glaucoma...... People that hadn't seen me since before I was taking the stuff were in shock and though I was going to die... Now I am not able to get enough exercise to keep my blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol down or endure the hot temperature during the summer.. At least the bottoms of my feet aren't on fire anymore... Getting old sucks big time.

That sounds awful! wtf?
I hope you get better ASAP!

Here's a little story and it's nothing compared to yours.

My mother was itching her scalp often so she went to the doctor, the doctor looked at her scalp (quickly) and told her she probably has fungus and gave her a prescription. (cream, tablets ect to get rid of it)

1 Month later and the itching is still there! So she asks me to take a look at her scalp, straight away I notice something strange....something is moving.......she has head lice!! LOL
So I went to get her something to kill the head lice and the problem was solved

Hmmm maybe I should become a doctor, seems like I can do a better job!

While I am on here if there are any lawyers here (And I believe there probably are) any advice I should know?? I have already collected all my records from the hospital in question. Hopefully before they could purge any evidence?? But I doubt they listed "dropped patient dead on floor" on my record??? Or did they HAVE to list that something happened?? I have documented everything day by day from when I left the hospital, and am following up with experts in each area of injury. I even have the doctor admitting something happened after she "left" me and Iwas not like that when she left. So any other advice?

A few years back a child hood friend waited 14 hours in the Parkland emergency waiting room for 14 hours with a ruptured hernia... When they came to take him to see the doctor he stood up and dropped dead..

You think it is bad now? Just wait till we all get Obama Care.. and NOW we can all get the same care.. Who do they think are gona be giving it. If you can't even get taken care of NOW with Healthcare we have to pay for. There will NOT be any doctors to treat you then, And if there are what quality will they be. The ones who are left after all others bail.. and there is a drug shortage now.. just wait.. there will not be any pain meds to pass out even if they wanted to...

yep you are right!!!! Our country is too wrapped up with drugs etc to really treat people. People are always going to get drugs whether legally or illegally so what are they really doing to stop drugs?? NOTHING!!! If you have an injury are you stopping drug abuse by not helping that injured person?? NO!!!!!! Again doctors are not police and to deny care should cost them their license!! If they are not willing to do their job correctly get a new job. They took the responsibility when they took all my money and had no problem doing that!!!!

I have decided that I want all my money back!!!! Trust someone and end up like this?? broken ribs, cracked teeth etc. Sounds like treatment from a third world country!! Just ridiculous!! Lost the whole summer no vacation stuck in bed! Sorry guys for the rant I am just frustrated and tired!!
