With severe budget cutting austerity the economy will get worse before it gets better (same for the deficit as revenues will not increase until the economy turns around). Even if they raise taxes it will raise some revenues but choke off growth thus limiting overall revenues. The economy needs more debt liquidation and deflation first.

Looking for a plan? Boy, have i got a guy for you to listen to. - Paul Ryan -

If he is the plan, then why is he running as VP?

You would think the person with the plan would be the top dog on the ballot.

Ryan was encouraged to run for president but he declined. Being the vice president opens the door to a future running. I don't know enough about him to see if this is good or bad.

So a fictional book can't expose a truth? Riiiiiiight.

It's funny how the left hates Atlas Shrugged.
It exposes the hypocrisy of the so-called tolerant and caring far left.
Hits too close to home ...

I'm not the one who calls people looters and parasites. Don't accuse me of being hateful. Being "Tolerant" does not mean I have to like an overly long and boring book. Guess what? Your tastes aren't the truth. You do realize you are telling us this book exposes the truth as a Catholic. So I'm guessing you don't accept the atheism part? Or the parts which clearly espouse an elitist position ? Or maybe you do believe that everyone with more money is better than you.
boingboing.net...

Rand was on Welfare at the end of her life. Just another looter and leecher in the end. She smoked herself into lung cancer and then forced everyone else to pay for it. So why don't you remember that the next time you try to cram your literary taste down our throats?

I did enjoy the Fountainhead somewhat, but this is when I learned something rather interesting about Rand that is not suited to discussion on this board. Rand's writing is best suit to philosophic debates and not fiction.

i was thinking about this though and it doesn't really make Rand a hypocrite. She was really just following her philosophy of self-interest above all. It is truly just egoism. She is held up as this model of libertarian ideals around here but the problem is her ideals are not libertarian. It's just this "It's ok for me as an individual to do X, but it's not ok for you" and of course "The government should not allow people to do X, but if it's allowed I will do it". If anything her ideals should be criticized for being completely unrealistic. It is much like communism, interesting on paper, untenable in real life. She would have died much sooner in poverty had there not been programs for her to take advantage of. It is always interesting to watch hubris meet reality though.

And the insurance companies don't even have to accept the vouchers in his plan. She's double screwed.

Romney to tap Ryan as vice presidential running mate: source

www.chicagotribune.com

NORFOLK, Virginia (Reuters) - Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney plans to name Congressman Paul Ryan as his vice presidential running mate on Saturday in a move that will bring the debate over how to reduce government spending and debt to the forefront of the race for the White House.

Romney will introduce Ryan at the retired battleship USS Wisconsin - coincidentally named for Ryan's home state - in Norfolk, Virginia, at about 9 a.m. EDT (1300 GMT), according to a Republican official who asked not to be identified.

I think one of the best lines I heard from Ryan on Sunday was when he, basically, acknowledged the economy getting better.

He said he and Romney "would take this country in a different direction."

If we are, even tho slowly, getting better. Which direction would then be "different" ????

I know he does not see and will not openly admit the economy is improving, but the American economy is trong enough to bring it's self back so long as it is allowed to do so.

THe best things all these politicians can do is to get out of the way. I have faith in the general populus to recover on their own.

Funny you should mention that. Chris Matthews is also holding his breath. He is waiting for a plan from Obama. Where is it ?????????????????????????????????????

That's funny. I had already told you the Democrats don't have one. But since you can't show that Romney and Ryan don't have a plan to balance a 16 trillion dollar debt, you try to deflect with this Obama nonsense.

You know what they say, put up or shut up. Which one will it be?

Your the one shouting about their ability to balance this humongous 16 trillion dollar debt.

Oh, that's wonderful !

Hi, we are the Democrats! We don't have a plan for the future ! Re- elect us today !

um........................why???

Because Mitt Romney is a murderer ! Watch our cool ad from our SuperPac !

President Mitt Romney needs to complete his 8 year term, then we can worry about

the Paul Ryan run for president in the year 2020.

We need to grow the GDP at 7% in the year 2013.

President Mitt Romney will do that.
