This was the best forum I could think of to ask about this.

I came across this video today.

Now, I remember a few years back they were playing around with two different concepts for dress uniform upgrades. One was going to be the Hap Arnold design with larger lapels and a belt, the other was like Billy Mitchell jackets with the closed collar. This design being worn by the members involved in his change-of-command are wearing a style I have never seen, nor was I aware was a consideration for a new uniform. As I understood things, they were essentially tabling the whole new uniform thing because of the costs and resources being used during a time of war.

If this is something they are actually moving to, I am flabbergasted. This is the worst design I have ever seen. It reminds me of a waiters serving jacket in some Indian restaurant but with more 'flare.'

Does anyone have info on them renewing the cause of a new dress uniform and or on this design?

I'm not a fan, but then again I'm apathetic because, come on... it's the Airforce lol.

I'm a Navy guy and we already had our uniforms changed a couple of years ago.

Ummm...
Let's not kick the Coast Guard ehh?
They are the soldiers, seamen, airmen, whatever they are calling them at the moment actually fighting for the US.
They do it here where it truly counts, they don't have any "accidental" murdered civillians like many other branches do either.
Plus where these guys get stationed, the chicks are a lot prettier!

We could start off with not murdering people into submission, making them live the way we say.
Then I guess we could stop murdering for resources.
That would be a great start!

It was fun banter but I can see there is no such thing on ATS....each thread devolves into politics or some personal vendetta. The thread was about the prospect of a new uniform but now about murdering civilians (not that I disagree or agree with it), just think people need to understand "time and place".

Have fun in the back and forth that will ensue that will accomplish nothing or solve anything in a thread that was about that which will be argued.

What the hell are they doing?? This IS United States Armed Forces right??? I can't believe I am seeing this.

I see some commenting on the bad design..and I agree is sure *IS* a bad design. I'm just shocked no one else recognizes it. Who came up with this?!?!

The top one is a current Air Force Uniform of the Russian Federation (Kinda how ours were?)

And this one is a Dress Uniform of the United Soviet Socialist Republic.

(Kinda like ours is now)

Okay, even I gotta agree OLD Mikhail there has seen better days...and I can do better for an example to what has me feeling like I got punched in the gut. U.S Officers are wearing that? I've really woken in another timeline. We've swapped Uniforms with the Soviets. Damn near perfectly, straight across when you look at the better examples there.

I am all for a better designed AF uniform. (Although considering the state of the economy, government and wars, I don't think now is the time.) I always did like the classic Dress Caps over the flight caps when wearing the jackets. I even like aspects of the two ideas originally proposed by the Air Force, although I think they could have used better models.

The one Welsh is wearing in the video just really looks frumpy. It has so many buttons and it comes off looking like a smock. It most certainly doesn't look professional or make the persons wearing them look commanding, powerful or convey any semblance of authority.
