There's frustration on the left, too – aimed not only at the Republican Party, for hindering Obama's agenda, but also at Wall Street and its "no-limits-casino banking culture," as liberal blogger Arianna Huffington writes on her Huffington Post website.

She and other leaders on the populist left, such as the Rev. Jim Wallis, are urging people to move their money from "too big to fail" banks into community banks.

There's also disaffection among moderates, frustrated by the high degree of political polarization that leaves little room for compromise on major policy matters. But efforts in the last decade to build a "radical middle" movement – a drive to marry the best ideas of the right and left – seem to have faded.

The tea party and the Occupy movement both arose in response to pervasive frustration. As we've grown accustomed to hearing in recent years, Americans are angry. They're angry at bankers, who helped cause the financial crisis but paid no price for it. They're angry at Washington, which blamed the bankers but deserved as much blame, if not more, for failing to rein them in. And they're angry at an economy that seems to enrich the wealthy while leaving most everyone else standing still or falling behind.

This anger manifests itself in a strong anti-elite bias and a determination to resist an oppressive leviathan — though the monster takes different forms in the two movements. For the tea party, it's the federal government in Washington; for Occupy, it's bailout-addicted big business.

First, I will qualify that I am angry. I have been watching the destruction of my nation since before Reagan. When I was graduating high school Tricky Dickey was just run out of office after his Vice President, Spiro Agnew stepped down for being caught in a jobs selling scheme as Governor of Maryland. I have watched the political landscape on both sides of the isle use and abuse the American people.

We see it everyday here on ATS in threads of every flavor. We have the Zimmerman shooting and just the other day there was confrontation with a preacher that led to a stabbing in an Alabama WalMart parking lot.

I saw some vile people quoting Bible text with the Bible in their hand telling people at the Michigan, "Gay Day event .. it is disgusting an not suitable for ATS

What is really happening?

Are acting out against those we don't like;
Are we just protecting our perceived "turf"
Is it that conservatives and liberals have been conditioned to combat each other?
Or is it that now we are a media driven society with cell phone cameras and the Internet?

I just see a general frustration everywhere. There is a rise in activism every place I see from all competing sources to scream the loudest and most outrageous. I don't know if it is related to the bad economy; the fact that many people are stressed financially or even the looming war in the Middle east. I just find that people have been under a different kind of stress since 911 and it is effecting our national psyche.

wooooooooooow....why would you run anyone over, potentially killing them... for walmart? I personally wouldn't hit anyone with a car for stealing but I could see someone getting angry if it were THEIR store, that THEY owned. But for walmart? Are you kidding me? Walmart could care less about their employees or this country.

Why isn't this walmart employee mad that the corporation he loves so much is helping to destroy the American economy?

I'm thinking that's attempted vehicular homocide but I could be wrong.Is there a lawyer in the house?

the 1% got the needle and most of the people 99% are about to pop on each other rather than popping on the 1%.

Then they will come in to restore order and it will look justified to the world community... even amongst the 99%

No, the world is getting smaller as the population increases. Where there used to be a few nuts that everyone knew about to avoid, it isn't that way anymore. They are better able to blend into society without being noticed. Really, who knows their next door neighbors anymore?

It's like buying a bag of pastachio nuts. Used to be you would very rarely get a rotten nut out of the bag. Nowadays there are more rotten nuts include.

Get to know your neighbors. We all spend far too much time on the internet and on ATS, to know what is going on in our own backyards.

How can anyone vote to reelect a current political office holder. I suppose they are happy with the system.

Something very bizarre is happening. On one hand it's as if we have been collectively lulled into a narcotic stupor by the illuminatti and don't realize that we're buck ass naked, bent over, covered head to toe in Vaseline left for the bankers to have a go any time of day or night.

On the other hand we have enough sense to know something just ain't right, we're in pain, we know this isn't what is supposed to be happening and our anger is building to a rage but rather than direct the anger at the rapists, we point the finger at each other because we can't really see who is buggering us.

See what I mean? Don't worry. I'm not laughing at you because my britches are missing too!
