I have been on ATS for a while now and have read numerous predictions, dreams, and other prophecies of impending doom. Too many of these are based upon strange numerical equations, synchronicity or other seemingly far fetched theories.

I however am basing my prediction based upon world events and physical observations. I am not going to predict an actual date. I am not claiming to be psychic although had I played the powerball numbers I wanted to last night I would be a very rich man...

Ok, here are the reasons I believe something is coming:

1. articles.cnn.com...:US

The first nationwide test of the emergency warning system... The government could have started doing this a long time ago. So why now? What kind of disaster could affect the entire country? Maybe the entire world? Do they know something we do not?

2. Prior to #1 I began seeing lots of FEMA advertisements about creating a disaster plan. Again why would the govt spend so much money doing this as well as creating and testing a nationwide emergency broadcast system if it wasn't going to be needed soon? The government is famous for waiting until the last minute when it comes to reacting to things. Why is it suddenly being so proactive.

3. The timing of troop withdrawals in the middle east and Afghanistan. It seems to have been very premature especially based upon recent events. Is it political? I am sure there may have been some sense of its time to bring them home... But they have been there so long now it seems like the drive to bring them home and the political gain for bringing them home now is minimal. I don't see many celebrations, parades, etc... Like after the first gulf war... Just a few small family reunion stories. This makes me wonder why is it so important to bring them home now? Are they going to be needed here for some reason?

4. I have seen several videos of trains carrying lots of armored vehicles. Not sure where they were actually taken or when.. I only know where people say they were and most say they are recent. It is very expensive to move these around. I do not believe it would be done just to move them. It looks like they are being staged (put in a specific location for a specific purpose) for some reason?

5. Many people are on edge. AS stated above there are numerous I have a feeling, prediction posts. I am wondering if there are more now than usual. Although there are always going to be a few crackpots I have talked to quite a few "normal" people and so many people thing something is going to happen. Humans are after all animals. Maybe our animal instincts are warning us...

These are just a few... anyone else have any other real and/or tangible reasons? No psychic predictions please... Nothing based upon flags falling, Mr. Coombes' statements etc... Real observations only please...

Of course all of this could be in order to create a boost in the economy. Get people to spend money on guns, ammo, extra food and water, water purification, solar panels, generators, extra fuel, all kinds of survival supplies. Those businesses seem to be doing well when most other industries are suffering.

The fact that nothing in this modern world is sustainable is an obvious hint that change is inevitable. The degree of change will be directly proportional to how complex the system is that is going to be changed. The modern world/system is very complex and integrated and the infrastructure to continue this system is deep rooted. The force needed to change the direction we are heading will have to be quite substantial. It will have to be a global event that catalyzes the change because these systems encompass the entire globe.

Its much like demolishing something old to make room for something new. The amount of force needed to demolish is proportional to the strength of the "structure" in this case its the "modern world"...its going to take something quite phenomenal to reroute the course the world is on.

I can only respond to number 4- about many armored vehicles being shipped by train. I have lived by the railroad tracks most of my life, one railroad company for most of my childhood and another railroad company for most of my adult years. Armored- and other- military equipment is shipped back and forth by train all the time... and LOTS of it!

It is far cheaper for our military to ship equipment by rail than to truck it in to wherever they want or need it. I live less than 10 mi;es (as the crow flies) from a port that ships huge amounts of equipment to our servicemen overseas. A lot of it comes in through the same port, and it goes past my house on the way in or out.

I assure you there is no more and no less being shipped out than usual (although when operations in the Middle East kick up there is a bit more). I also can see the Interstate from my house that they convoy some stuff up and down, usually with police escort. No busier on the Interstate either.

The military is CONSTANTLY moving equipment around for one reason or another.

Number 3 dispute: The President lied when he said they were bringing troops home. They replaced the ones they brought home and signed a 10 year agreement to keep troops in Afghanistan.

Plus the built that U.S Embassy thing there which requires the upkeep and protection of some 20k troops alone.

They didn't bring them home.

This kind of fits in with number 4.

I have a buddy who says his relative who is in the Army was just mobilized to prep and do drills for Natural Disasters.

Has anyone else heard from their friends/relatives in the DoD that would correspond with what my buddy said??

Well the disaster preparedness thing is nothing new.
I'm old enough to recall being given a Civil Defense pamphlet in
grade school . It basically told about how to prepare a fallout shelter.

Do a Google search for "Civil Defense Manual" or "Civil Defense Pamphlet"
and you"ll find lots of stuff from the 50's and 60's

Heck, I even purchased an old hand cranked air blower at a yard sale .
It was made by Bernz-O-Matic.
Here's a quote from a silver label on the unit:
"The Office of Civil Defense Mobilization recommends a minimum
of three cubic feet of air per minute per person in order to
maintain a safe level of carbon dioxide in a fall-out shelter"
It's model tx-950.

So you see, just business as usual , nothing to WORRY about,
just stay calm and be prepared.

I sort of understand how Uncle Sam views the populace,
Most are a bit to complacent when it comes to survival
because everything is so conveniently provided.
Dang, I see kids today walking to school in shorts and no hat
and it's the middle of winter. Makes me wonder about them
and their parents.

True but those were the cold war days and we were "on the brink" of nuclear Armageddon. And we probably have gotten a little more complacent about preparedness between the 70's more so in the 80s and 90s... But today it definitely doesn't seem like the general feeling is that we are again on the brink of a nuclear Armageddon. It seems much different to me (Although I wasn't around for the 50s and 60s)...

Again as someone pointed out earlier we are always on the brink of something. But it seems like we are all preparing now more than ever. Is it because 2012 is here? Maybe. If it does happen I will miss my AC the most..

I also forgot to add the recent mass recruitment by the CIA. Not to long ago several major areas were bombarded with the CIA advertising for job positions. To me it appeared they were looking for covert operators. Were these to be overseas spies or local paid informants? I am sure there was a lot of buz on here about it at the time... I haven't heard much about it since then. I wonder how many people were hired? Considering the time it would take to go through the applications, hire the new recruits and then train them... I think they would now finally be ready and in position to accomplish the job they were hired for...

I've heard a lot of talk/speculation about some of these movements being related to Hollywood films, which have the budget to pay for this type of thing and we know the military in the past has been very cooperative with Hollywood. Is this something you've explored?

The USA is NOT leaving Afghanistan for a very long time yet, your Govt is lying to you. Some troops WILL remain there as well many Australians.

You have'nt predicted anything however we all know there's ALWAYS something on the horizon, name a time in modern human history where nothing ever happened.

That is really a good idea! I never thought of that.It creates jobs and a "need" for products.

All the panic about the tanks being transported by train is silly. As another member said above, the military moves equipment by train all the time. Obviously, Hummers and armored vehicles can be driven on public roads. But tanks cannot, so they get moved around via rail. The tanks in question (from the YouTube video of tanks moving through Burbank) were likely going in for takedown/part out.
