????

What did I miss? Why are speaking about Obama?

The article is clearly about Mitt Romney having death squads in South America funding Bain Capital.

Did you even read the article, or are you just crying "propaganda" because you hate Obama?

Jesus this place has gone down hill.

Why hasn't there been any outrage from the left towards Obama on things like Gitmo? You all raged and protested when it was to get Bush out of office, but suddenly when you're guy is behind it, you're fine. Where is your anger over the ridiculously high unemployment and gas prices? How about sky rocketing deficits? All these things you care about only 5 years ago, you suddenly give a pass in favor of Huffington, Puffington Post propaganda.

No kidding. The way you guys now suddenly eat up partisan drivel and MSM spin is mind boggling. I guess you'll willingly eat it up as long as its coming from the right political ideology? Or should I say, left ideology?

I think this falls in to the "Bill Ayers" category.

I never gave a damn about whom Obama served on a community board with and I guess I don't care where Romney got capital from to invest in his company.

It does not change the fact that he is still not the best choice for president and even if he got all his money from Pablo Escobar, people are still going to vote for him.

A corrupt game will always attract corrupt players. If we change the game, so will the players. Until then, we should expect presidential candidates to be corrupt.

To be fair, that is pretty much how the game is played.

When a good amount of cold, hard cash is needed, the best place to look, after Middle Eastern despotic monarchs, is organized crime. (More specifically drug barons.)

Take George H. W. Bush's ties to Panama, Clinton's ties with the "Mena affair", the recent HSBC scandal, the Wachovia incident, and too many more to list here... seriously, it is only illegal to deal with these criminal organizations if you are not part of their special club.

Among higher spheres of finance, WHERE the money came from is of little interest.

The fact that the drug cartels have REAL cold hard cash, as opposed to pseudo investments in questionable derivatives that only appear as "money" on a balance sheet, makes them the go to guys. "I'll trade you a couple of "look the other ways" for a few of those coc aine millions if you please."

Now, for those defending Romney... seriously??? Yes, the Democrats have done the same, does this mean that Republicans doing it is right? They are ALL hypocritical scum bags, either accept it, or denounce it, but if you defend it, you truly are part of the problem.

Loading companies up with debt then closing them down for profit is hardly a good way of doing business.

The majority of people who will vote for Romney don't care. I could be discovered that he ordered a hit of a business competitor and they'd not bat an eye. All that matters is that he is not Obama.

Dear pajoly,

I know this is a little off-topic, but it looks like the thread has pretty much destroyed itself, so mind if I ask a question?

So what do you think is responsible for this hatred of Obama? I can't accept race, because the Republicans weren't upset with Hermain Cain, or Allen (sp?) West. They love Thomas Sowell and Walter Williams, so why?

With respect,

A lot of us are not fans of either Obama or Romney, but we also make no pretense that the main source of dysfunction is the intentional recalcitrance of the Right, to whom even the once pragmatic Boehner is beholden and cannot control.

I don't buy the race argument except to the extent that the propaganda mouth pieces on the Right have made many to belief Obama secretly hates white people. I principally blame the outright lying, distortion and manipulation by the Murdoch empire and his henchmen, along with Rush. FOX intentionally distorts everything, engages in constant innuendo, mixes false video with stories (like showing a small crowd from some random event and not showing the real crowd when, for example Ron Paul speaks), FOX ran for days on non stories like Bill Ayers while the rest of the media, left and otherwise blew if off like the non story it was until FOX made so much noise they had to cover it. Same thing recently with the FOX faux dust up about Obama hugging Professor Bell, a globally respected academic with tenure at Harvard (as if Harvard is the heart of violent radicalism...remember, Romney and GW Bush both went there too) like it was a major scandal.

FOX constantly feeds this stuff to its viewers in prime time so much they become unable to be objective or think critically as they are so apoplectic with hate. This is further compounded in the churches on Sunday, as many of their pastors preach hate and conspiracy. It gets ratings and it fills the baskets in church. It is easy to rally a group if you can convince them of an enemy in their midst. Hitler' himself said:

“Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it”

FOX has take this and the lessons of Goebbels (Hitler's chief and great propagandist) to heart, who said:

“The most brilliant propagandist technique will yield no success unless one fundamental principle is borne in mind constantly - it must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over”

That is why the hatred of Obama is so visceral.

collective propaganda by the right wing talking heads. They've lied and said the most ludicrous things. The worst part is that after they say them, a thread magically appears on ATS hours later. It's as if no one fact checks anymore.
For cryin out loud, Glen Beck compared Obama to Hitler more times than Bill Oreilly said "Pinhead".
Long as their guy looks bad, sounds great!

Funny, let me break it down for you without fox news, or Rush or any right wing pundits that you can't stand.
Obama has lied and lied and lied and has been caught red handed but the left refuses to look at the evidence.
Hear what I am saying.......He has had to continue lying to cover all his other lies. Why do you think he uses a teleprompter when he gives a speech? To keep up with all the previous lies he has told and keep his story straight.

He lives by this, tries to lead by this and because people will not open their eyes and hearts to the truth, influences by this. He needs to memorize this famous little saying:

"Oh what a tangle web we weave, when we practice to deceive" Obama's life is that tangled web.......

He can no longer sort the truth from the lies......

Ryan Grim Talks Bain Capital's Death Squad Ties On 'Democracy Now' (VIDEO)

"There’s no possible way that anybody in 1984 could check out these families -- which was the term that [Romney’s campaign] used -- and come away convinced that this money was clean," HuffPost's Washington bureau chief Ryan Grim told Amy Goodman, the host of "Democracy Now."

"Mitt Romney met with several Bain Capital investors in Miami in 1984 -- including members of the de Sola, Salaverria and Poma families -- who had close ties to either Salvadoran death squads or the far-right ARENA party, which was founded and led by Roberto d'Aubuisson, a notorious death squad leader."

It's way worse that it looks on the surface. Bain took in 40% of it's start-up capital from four families directly tied to death squads in El Salvador, that killed over 75,000 people.

Romney even mentioned he had reservations from meeting with these people, yet years later he is thanking them for supporting him.

Credit for the uncovering the scandal to Crooks and Liars;
Romney, Bain, Oligarchs and Death Squads

Back in July, I wrote a post about Romney and Bain, and how he will never tell the truth. In that post, I mentioned his connection to Latin American oligarchs and how they funded a substantial chunk of his initial Bain ventures.

Now the Huffington Post has picked up that thread and run with it. What they've uncovered is ugly and violent. It layers on another layer of taint to Bain Capital's founding, Romney's offshore accounts, and his equally unsavory offshore associations.

These are people connected to those Mitt Romney refers to as his "Latin American friends." Read the whole article, because it's quite detailed and should cause everyone to step back and think about what those associations might mean if he were elected President. To me, it's like being sent right back to the Reagan years again, propping up oligarchs in Latin America while the people are crushed under their feet.

I love the comment from one of the posters on HP;

So lets put this in context...

There is a money link between romney and these 5 guys, Romney himself has named them and he knew how dirty they were because he'd expressed concerns about ever meeting them. He took enough money for 40% of Bain and has therefore been funded by them but through their continued participation in Bain he has earned them money and funded them in return.

Now please compare this to 2008 when there was a massive republican campain to associate obama with the oppinions of his pastor, because he attended the church and was friends with the pastor. This pastor as far as I remember never funded the killing of people. The worst accusation was that obama might share those controversial views of this christian pastor (while at the same time possibly secretly being a muslim)

Is this fair game: YES, absolutely

Which raises a valid point - Romney took their seed money (several million dollars), 40% of the start-up capital to fund Bain Capital. There is no question this is blood money from these families. There is no question these families were tied to far-right terrorism of the ARENA party in Latin America and death squads.

BUT, thanks to their investment in Bain, these same families earned a great deal of profit, courtesy of Mitt Romney and Bain Capital. So the question is: How much of that profit went back into these families coffers, to continue funding far-right terrorism and death squads? These families involvement in such continued long past their meeting with Romney and investing in Bain.

Considering just how far the Republicans have gone to try and connect Obama to the Weather Underground, a left-wing radical group from the 1960's, why do the same Republicans ignore the direct connection between Romney and the de Sola, Salaverria and Poma families? The silence from the right is, as usual, deafening.
