What you are experiencing is called nostalgia. Everyone gets it...it's why everyone thinks the cartoons from their childhood is the best. You're one
of those old people that think they understand modern society and you just don't. US society in the past was incredibly racist and sexist, why would
anyone want to live in a time where open discrimination was considered normal and completely legal?
People were poor then but you could still leave your car unlocked and didn't have to worry about someone coming into your house and robbing you.
People still can do that, unless you live in a ghetto or high crime area. All of the violent crimes have fallen..
In 2009 America's crime rate was roughly the same as in 1968, with the homicide rate being at its lowest level since 1964. Overall, the
national crime rate was 3466 crimes per 100,000 residents, down from 3680 crimes per 100,000 residents forty years earlier in 1969
The local business knew you by your first name
They still can if you live in a small enough town and go there all the time. What does this have to do with the quality of the country?
A person's word was as good as cash.
I'm sorry but there were always con-men and liars....you're living in some sort of fantasy land
People still work, our employment rate is like 93-95%. The majority of the poor have jobs.
It was shameful to be on welfare
It is still shameful to be on welfare
The opinion seems to be if one can't have the job they want, they would rather open the mailbox every month for their beer money or steal it.
Then why is our employment rate in the 90s? Why is all the major crime down?
Being arrested was not something someone wanted to happen. Now, it is a badge of honor.
No, it really isn't. 99.9999% of the USA does not think being arrested is an honor.
Having an illigitimate child was a disgrace, now it is acceptable to have a brood of illigitimate children and be on welfare for
You can't be on welfare for generations. The most you can stay on it is 5 years...most states are like 2-3 years.
Now, people (at least 43% of them) expect cradle to grave care by the government.
No they don't. Do you think most people actually want to be on welfare? It is not a glamorous life, you are living in poverty in usually some of the
worst neighborhoods imaginable.
Also, social security isn't welfare, people paid into it and are getting their money back, which is part of that 40% statistic.
I see corruption in the government.
There has always been corruption in the government
. If they don't have what it takes in their pocket, they want to put their hands in someone else's pocket.
So now all Americans are pick pockets
We have a president who believes he should take from those who earn it and give it to those who don't.
You're talking about taking from the poor/middle class and giving it to the banks, right? Then I agree
Now, he is going to be re-elected by those who want their hands in another's pocket.
Yeah, goldman sachs and crew will re-elect him. Gotta take more of the middle classes money and give it to their rich selves.
It is to financially bankrupt this country and have the entire population dependent on government.
This country is already financially bankrupt. There is no mathematically possible way to pay off the debt that we do not owe anyway.
Romney wants to do that. Raise taxes on everyone that makes UNDER 200k a year...while giving cuts to the 1%. Great plan huh? Bankrupt everyone else
and give it to his CEO & banker friends.
He supports giving tax cuts to corporations that outsource American jobs. How can people work if there aren't enough? People are going to go on
foodstamps if they cannot afford food with their low paying service jobs.
