Taliban threatens to kill Imran Khan

www.abc.net.au

The Pakistani Taliban has threatened to kill cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan if he goes ahead with a mass protest against US drone attacks.

Imran Khan is planning to lead thousands of his supporters in a march to the Waziristan region of Pakistan in September to demonstrate against the drone attacks.

The Pakistani Taliban has a strong presence in the area, and while its members are the targets of drone strikes, a senior leader of the movement has reportedly threatened to kill Khan if he goes ahead with the march because he is a liberal.

Wait...what?

The Taliban is threatening to kill this poor dude because he is against US Drone strikes in Pakistan...that seems very odd...

Then they claim that they may kill him because he is a liberal. There is more than what meets the eye here people.

That IS strange, no?

I would have expected any anti-US anything to be welcomed by the Taliban.... especially the Pakistan chapter.

When a Taliban spokesperson calls someone a "liberal", what do you suppose they mean?

Around my neck of the woods, the word "liberal" has different meanings depending on who is saying it.

DUH.

US is now working with Taliban and Al-Queda in the region for about 4 years.

Apparently the Taliban have threatened to kill him because he is not religious enough, despite being a practicing Muslim.

The Telegraph

"We will not accept help or sympathy from any infidel," said Mr Ahsan, referring to Mr Khan. "We can fight on our own with the help of God," he said, as drones buzzed overhead.

Perhaps Imran Khan, nicknamed 'Taliban Khan' by some, has discovered both how dangerous it is to cosy up to religious gangsters and how quickly they can turn against you.

Rather ironic really.

Imran Khan is NOT poor!!

And religious nutjobs threatening to kill "co-religionists" because htey follow the wrong sect, are not religious enough, etc., shold not seem strange to anyone whith a modicum of understanding of religion - just think reformation, counter reformation, various christian heresies (eg Cathars, Arianism), the war that split islam into shia & sunni, and on it goes.

Wouldn't doubt that.
But with the media the way it is today it may have been intentional.Everyone knows they make crap as they go along. And they all have their agenda.

This man is not religious enough? that is nonsense reason to kill someone.

In WWII, there was a general rule, once you catch a German SS, after quick interrogation, next thing would be a bullet in his head. Same rule should apply to Taliban. Not that they are as skillful fighters as the SS were, but then fanatics should be dealt with utmost ignorance.

Probably the US arm of Taliban making these claims,

That or the Taliban like the US bombing villages, killing innocents and pushing more and more young twisted youth into joining their ranks.

Oh please. Of course they have. And oranges are orange.

Religion isn't what divides people. It is people that divide people. We just don't like differences, so we parse ourselves by differences. Within a culture there is class structure in every society on the planet. This class structure...that is us parsing ourselves into groups (strength in numbers).

As a kid, how many loyalties do you have? School spirit, city/state/national pride? Race? Gender? We all find pride in the things that we feel that we are, the things we identify with. And this provides us ego.

This is why you see religions killing each other. Strength in numbers. Gotta keep that ego alive.

Maybe you should get a better grip over the situation before making comparisons. Imran Khan is just playing politics by pretending to care about Drone Attacks in Pakistani soil, why is he protesting? Why isn't he taking the matter to the supreme court of Pakistan in order to bring Obama and his colleagues to justice?

If the Pakistani Supreme court finds Obama guilty of massacring Pakistani civilians then they should produce an arrest warrant.

Imran Khan does not support the Taliban, and the Taliban don't support him. Protesting against Drone attack doesn't mean Imran Khan supports the Taliban, it means politics.

The vast majority of Pakistanis are against US Drones murders, that's why Imran Khan is using this to rally support. Let's leave it at that, hope you now have a better grip of what is going on and why the Taliban are angry at Imran Khan and his sham protest.

I'm confused.

So the guy against drones, that I am personally supporting because I don't like drones is being targeted by the Taliban who is for drones yet are the ones we are fighting against.

Just look at his political work section. That should explain why he is potential/possible target by the Talibs. Nothing new since several politicians have been terminated/assasinated in Pakistan.

In any scenario, Talibian is a murderous, terrorist and criminal organization and should be treated like one. They are into hurting common peoples basic of the basic freedoms, peddling drugs to finance terrorism all around the world and installing fear into the minds of people not yet into their fanatic 500 AD mindset.
