All of you who have argued against X-Ray - and wanted the terrorists there released. This is the second time in about a month.
www.timesonline.co.uk...
"Pakistani tribal fighters led by a former Guantanamo Bay detainee were today threatening to kill two Chinese hostages unless US-led forces stop a
terrorist sweep along the Afghan border.
The fighters, who have explosives strapped to their bodies, have threatened to blow themselves and the hostages up if Pakistani paramilitary forces
approach their mud brick hideout near the town of Tank. They are also demanding the release of two Uzbek al-Qaeda militants detained in the
region.".....

So you are trying to blame others for the US military releasing terrorists from Guantanamo when they were still potential threats? Who actually
released them? Perhaps the US military?

The protests around the world about X-Ray have put unreasonable pressure on the US government. Clearly it knows these terrorists are terrorists (or
non-military combatants) but cannot prove it in the way the law expects. So it does the right thing and keeps them out of harm's way.
Protest, protest, protest. Old Europe especially.
So the US government relents - it lets some go and
KERPOW!
Que'll Surpise - they ARE terrorists after all!
Doooohhhhh, dooooohhhh, dooohhhh
It's like Homer Simpson is in charge of the anti-war movement
Lesson for the USA - NEVER EVER LET ANY OF THEM GO!

Well if the US had any idea of proper judicial process perhaps this wouldn't have happened.
Unfortunately you have to have "evidence" before you can lock people up indefinitely. The only reason Bush and Rummy got to do it this time is
because they exploited a legal loophole in the US judicial system by never bringing the prisoners to the US mainland.
You should realise that it's in nobody's interests for the US to bring itself down to the level of a 3rd world country where human rights are
concerned. The US should be setting an example not acting like a fascist dictatorship.

The evidence is; this filth was taken captive in al-Quada training camps, where they learned to kill Americans for the fun of killing Americans.
If that's not enough evidence, then there is none.
Shouldn't have taken them prisoners. Don't have to feed dead men.

Enemy combatants in a time of war are not entitled to "due process".

Hrm, even if they werent terrorists going into the camp how do you think they will leave it? For those of you who have went off to jail, when you
were released how did you feel towards the system that put you in the box? Did you want to give it a big warm and fuzzy hug or put a .45 between its
eyes. Basically I see camp X-Ray as a breeding ground for terrorists, because the ones there who arent are exposed to the real deal, and coupled with
being pissed off about being imprisioned wrongly, they become the thing they were accused of; its no wonder when they get out they take up fighting
against us.

So, what is the solution?
execute all terrorists in the field?
detain none?

Have you ever seen a prisoner that said that he was imprisoned rightly?
Every detainee at Guantanamo is guilty as charged. There isn't an innocent prisoner down there or in their families as far as that goes.
John Walker Lindh should have been executed in my opinion. His jail time means that,"Yes we can conspire to wage war aginst the Americans, they
won't do nothing but take care of us if we get caught and the release us if we get enough liberals to run thir mouths."
He should have been shot and his parents should be imprisoned. That's my opionion and I'm sticking to it.

THESE MEN COULD/SHOULD BE DEAD!! The fact that they are still alive is due to the humanitarian treatment of the United States military. I believe
these men should never again be allowed to return to their families and homelands. TERRORISTS NEED TO BE SENT A MESSAGE!! Take photos of them being
showered with pig bood and post them on the internet. Send exploding pig bombs to their families and friends back home disguised as a message from
the prisoners.

I hate to say it because its going to piss off alot of people, but the kind of attitudes expressed in this thread are the very reason we will be
plauged by terrorism for a long time to come. The `kill em all and let got sort it out` mentality isint going to win us any friends. Each terrorist
or non-terrorist killed by the US becomes a matyr, and a inspiration for others already close to making the decision to join a group. The fact of the
matter is there is no way to completely stop terrorism, not even wholesale genocide in the middle east would do the trick. Its something we will have
to live with and learn to deal with; there are ways to lessen the chances, protect ourselves, and in the appropriate situations be pro-active
to stop attacks but there is no final solution to this problem.
As for being imprisioned rightly, yes I have met people who realised they were screwups and got what they deserved when locked up. Its sometimes been
an inspiration for them to mend their ways and live a life that keeps them out of jail. To believe that all the prisoners of camp X-Ray are
automatically guilty is ignorant beyond reason; the people who put them there are humans, just like you and I. Humans can, do and will continue to
make mistakesl its just the nature of the beast. I'm sure there are people there who are guilty as charged, and likewise there probably are those
there who simply pissed off someone and got turned in

I think the problem the rest of the world has with camp X-Ray is the ambiguity present in the status of the detainees. These men are being held
without charge and without rights accorded to them by the Geneva convention.
I already know how this goes:
'They're not prisoners of war, they're enemy combatants'
'Oh, so if they're not soldiers and hence prisoners of war, then they're civilians who chose to take up arms. So you've kidnapped many civilians
and are holding them illegally?'
'No, they're not civilians, they're enemy combatants.'
'You mean enemy soldiers?'
'No, enemy combatants, they were fighting for the enemy.'
'OOOOKKKKK....they were fighting for the enemy, the government of the country at the time?'
'That's right, you're getting the idea!!!'
'But they're not soldiers?'
'No, try and say it with me, ENEMY COMBATANTS'
'WTF?'
Now, don't get me wrong, i fully agree that many of these men are probably terrorists and deserve everything they're getting but the way the US is
going about seems un-necessarily inflammatory. Why not just send them to a military court and slap them in jail for 5000 years. At least then the
imprisonments would seem to have some legitimacy. As things stand now, a lot of people (especially in the arab world) just see it as the US military
doing whatever they want with no respect for the rights of the detainees.

And the truth is - if you let any of these people go they will do what they were doing when they were captured - commit acts of war and terror against
decent people.
I hope the tribunal process learns from this and eliminates these terrorists.

So guys, anyone have any idea about why quite a few of these "terrorists" have been released without charge? A number of British citizens have now
been released claiming that they were tortured and forced to confess to having met Bin Laden. How did that help the US?
Some of these people were just arrested by tribal warlords (and sold to the US military), some were fighting for the Taliban, which lets not forget,
is not the same as Al-Qaida. Not that I'd invite them to tea or anything, but they were a sovereign government at the time.
The problem with this ignorant attitude of "kill them all" is that you're just confirming to the terrorists that it's ok to kill people without
thinking about it too much. Life is cheap.
Thing is, life isn't cheap. You should start thinking about that next time someone you know dies. Life is not cheap.

Between the opponents of terrorism and the liberal supporters of terrorists?
Definition of an opponent of terrorism
There are twenty men in jail. Five of them are likely to commit further acts of terror if released - but we do not know which five.
Solution - do not release any of them
Definition of liberal supporters of terrorism
There are twenty men in jail. Five of them are likely to commit further acts of terror if released - but we do not know which five.
Solution - because we don't know which five - we let them all go.
God help us if ever the liberals get in power.

God help us if ever the liberals get in power.
- Naaa, God help us now 'folks' that appear to 'think' like this are in power (and have been for nearly 4yrs).
When the facts don't fit just go right ahead and 'invent' some absurd nonsense that you've imagined regarding what (all) 'liberals' think and
complain about that as if your inventions were exactly accurate.

My "defintion" post above was a reference to the prevailing views of liberals - some of whom have posted here - and many other places.
They have consistently argued that X-ray is wrong/illegal and that those inside should be charged or let go.
I have posted links to show that some have been let go and gone on to more terror acts.
My difference between someone who opposes terrorism and liberal supporters of terrorists is exactly correct. The liberals want to let terrorists walk
free to commit more acts of terror - THEY SAY SO HERE THEMSELVES!

- Oh for God's sake.
OK, go on then....give one example where anyone (liberal) here says they "want to let terrorists walk free to commit more acts of terror".
