I just found this most beautiful, clear forthright statement on economic freedom. I think most of you here will love to see and I think it should be shared as much as possible:

The following is a partial excerpt from what was written with article where I found this video:

Growing up the son of Mexican immigrants in a “shed” with no running water, Daniel Garza learned something important about the value of freedom in America. He learned that anyone can succeed in this country if they work hard and rely on themselves and their communities for their own success.

Despite the poverty, Garza says his father never accepted welfare and instead relied on hard work to improve his family’s economic lot. Now as executive director of the nonprofit group The Libre Initiative, Garza is on a mission to show members of the Hispanic community that welfare is an “American nightmare” and that the true American dream can only be achieved through self-reliance.

This is so gentle and yet so powerful---This seems like the way we can wake the people up and get back to being a shining light of freedom for all the world to see and hopefully aspire too also.

Maybe the video is so honest and simple that it's very hard to dispute by anyone. I don't know. It did get passed up.

I guess the folks who like to battle and debate just could not find anything to argue about here. Which is fine by me, I just wanted to share it--- I don't enjoy debates.

I thought it was powerful in such a gentle and honest way. I liked that a lot.

It seems such an important message, I hope it gets seen by someone who might need to see this---like the folks who love socialism et al---This could change their mind about that .

I am glad you saw this and spoke up for some attention over here.

Thanks

sometimes the truth renders people speechless.
it hurts when everything you have ever believed is wrong.

I guess so, really ---It is very interesting. They must all be totally stunned into silence
ha ha

Well, I do thank you again. Funny, the one guy who already understands, reads it. And the one's I thought I might help 'wake up' never stopped by. Oh well--- so it goes.

All I can say is that those were other times. You now have american citizens complaining that upward mobility is not available to them let alone immigrants. Sure there are success stories but they are a small percentage. They make for good propaganda though.

That is a good response though I would not have thought of that. If we had real economic freedom, then it would be like untying knots, letting people free would bring the mobility. It has to be real economic freedom though, not just a sort of half there with a whole lot of laws and regulations still being used for power control.

I think its sad that people think we cannot have a free society--- and now we've given up even believing its possible?

It just seems so easy to get the government out of things and let people do what they like, save their money and start a little business--- it can be done. If we did it once, we can do it again.

Hey, thanks for the contribution here. At least you thought about it, even though you think its not possible. We have to start believing it is possible. Believing in good things is half the battle, then doing them is the other half.

Inspiration, it takes inspiration. This guy on the video is still inspired---I like that. Passing along his message is inspiration.

Being depressed and giving up won't help---

We have to feel positive and that good energy will get things moving---maybe---

anyway, thanks for the added comments.

I agree but then the problem isn't people giving up or lack of inspiration but the lack of economic freedom available to them in the first place.

This video reminded me a little of the movie "The pursuit of hapyness". It's a rags to riches story with the typical propaganda thrown in there. They conveniently leave out the fact that Chris Gardner was a Navy vet that was making $8,000 a year in the late seventies and then had a job earning double that in the early eighties. This was a time when minimum wage was $4,368.00 (1975) and $6,968.00 (1981).

They then flat out lie about his training at Dean Witter Reynolds to become a stockbroker. In the movie they say that it is unpaid (IIRC) when in fact the trainees received a $1000 a month stipend. That supposedly wasn't enough which makes you wonder because there were people living on less at the time. Regardless, the movie plays out with him working towards his goal with nothing in return but the promise that in America if you work hard you will get your just desserts.

Of course people's attention is focused on Gardner's slice of the story but what about the other 19 trainees. How many spots were really available? How many made it and how many failed? They also lived on $1000 a month for a year. Did they end up being homeless? Did their american dream come true or did it go up in smoke?

I never saw that movie, but it makes me think that I would still rather freedom from oppressive government control of the economy and just see what happens.

I'd rather take my chances. I am very sure we are all a lot more able than we think. But only if the government shackles are taken off. I'd rather I had complete freedom to just let things work out on our own. I trust my self and I am sure most here trust in their self too.

Example of this would be no more public housing, or welfare which just seems to encourage more slavery to the system. It is so disrespectful to say people would rather not work and prefer to live off the public dole and have more babies to get more public checks to buy food and rent for each kid they have.

Yes, that is what people do, but I don't think they want to, I think they are kind of stuck there by controlling political systems. They won't get to ever find out what they can really do if they have to. They will be deprived of the joy of Self discovery of our own power and strength and abilities and God Given Gifts that each of have.

I liked the simplicity of this little video. It just feels so right to me.

I trust that people, at least 95%, have what it takes-- I think most can do a great job of taking care and responsibility for themselves and their families. We are really so capable and the joy of doing it our self feels wonderful.

I really think if we could go back to economic freedom, we would thrive again, and not only in material prosperity, but the heart and soul would grow strong and we'd all start thinking for our selves again. We'd be a country that could represent by example to the rest of the world that is in poverty, how the whole concept of real freedom works.

I know, maybe I am a dreamer, but I think we can turn it around. Well, only if we don't become any more socialist than we already have, but from this point we can still turn it around.

Excellent video great story! Freedom is still the way always has been and always will be. The welfare state has failed miserably and continues to drag us down!

Of course but that doesn't change the fact that people don't have that freedom so it is wrong to say that they lack motivation, initiative or hope.

Yes, that is what people do, but I don't think they want to, I think they are kind of stuck there by controlling political systems.

And why would they ever change that? If that is what has been put in place it would only stand to reason that it is because someone is getting something out of the way the system is setup.

For starters your definition of socialism is wrong. Socialism has nothing to do with government hand outs.

Second: I think George Carlin hit the nail on the head "You have no choice. You have owners. They own you. They own everything."

Dear Hawk,

Thank you so much for embedding the video. It looks so much better like that! Much appreciated.

And yes, freedom is the only way and the only answer.

Thanks again

I know, I see what you are saying. How can we change it? I see. I don't know, and I love George Carliin too.

I am thinking, or feeling that maybe if enough of us understand then things will just flow into change. Like if enough of us understand what is going on, then just that shift in the minds and hearts of men will bring freedom about. if Truth and Freedom become the new paradigm then those who are not on board would not be running things---or something like that.

We as individuals are what makes up society, so if you live in your own way, as best you can, from and for freedom and you do not buy into the lies, and you do not uphold corruption, and I do the same, I live integrity and do it my way, and then others do it too---eventually, we can get back to Genuine Freedom. The government and controlling powers will just lose their gip as they too become enlightened to the Truth and Freedom.

I know, we can only do our way a little bit and we are pretty much always in the system, I know---but something says there is Magic and Mystical ways to bring about change---I just feel it. Something about the Heart and Soul and Intention and Optimism and Energy and Power within us---not fighting any one or anything, but somehow Living the Spirit of Freedom--- even when we do not see it evidenced,---the Collective Spirit will make things change.

Sounds great but as soon as you get a group who is willing to set integrity aside and pledge allegiance to each other at the expense of the freedoms of the rest you will end right back where we are at.

That is why no matter how good political ideals look on paper they always fail in the real world.
