For that matter, what the heck do people mean by "real" music anyway?

I think I can FILL IN for OP on this one.

Real music ? Well that would have to involve a real musician. Who actually possessed real talent that caused people to marvel at a performance despite the type of music they may or may not prefer. I would say real music only happens when the musicians talent dwarfs the type of music he chooses to play.

Well,that sucks that jean paul was banned.
Especially after his friend died from here on ATS.

At any rate,disco did kind of suck,glad I blocked it out of my head,but it creeps back every once in awhile.

This didn't suck that much. Better than watching David Bowie, that's for sure. lol

That's just not true. The Jackson 5 predate disco and were a meld of pop and r&b designed by Berry Gordy of Motown. As time went on, Disco elements certainly became integrated into their work (see e.g., 'Dancing Machine') - but to say that but for Disco there would be no J5 and consequently Michael or Janet is just not correct.
