could it have been chinese lanterns? They exist in many colors...
I know I'm not being very original but were you a witness?
If so how coud you describe their speed?

The Zetas are now airborne I guess...
No but really, I used to stay in Laredo and not much of anything happens (on this side of the river). If a group of people saw something strange, I wouldn't doubt if it was true.

This description from the original witness caught my eye:

i would describe them like a herd of bees because of the speed and the way they were traveling all together.

If you look at the list of official Project Blue Book unknowns, the very first one says:

July 3, 1947; Harborside, Maine. 2:30 p.m. EDT. Witness: astronomer John Cole of South Brooksville, Me. Watched 10-15 seconds while ten very light objects, with two dark forms to their left, moved like a swarm of bees to the northwest. A loud roar was heard.

I always though that was a very odd description, and this is only the second time I've seen it, although I did find a description evokative of a bee swarm made by a pilot in this 1947 newspaper article. The pilot describes a bunch of flying saucers as looking like "a bunch of molecules doing the rhumba".
