Gorgeous B/W photo of Curiosities wheel planted SAFELY on the ground. You can see the alien pebbles resting under her massive wheels. Plus a spectacular photo of its shadow!

Cant wait to see the beauty after tomorrow.

P.S. The early photos are from the low resolution 2 megapixel hazard cams. These are only for the safety of the rover itself and were not intended for anything other than making sure the rover didn't land on anything, or drive into something compromising. The 8 megapixel COLOR photos will be available soon.

Im watching it on CNN right now. Im extremely happy for this moment, celebrating with more than enough vodka.

Plus, a ton of people on my facebook are posting about this to, and that's something I didnt expect.

I cant wait for the first chemistry stuff to start coming in in the next couple weeks/months.

If the first images are any indication of whats to come then I think they really overhyped the photo quality that was to be expected IMO.

I think the transmission speed is really slow being from mars and all, so it first sends back crappy black and white photos then they get better as the information trickles in. Not exactly a top speed connection here, they are transmitting from an entirely different planet.

I'm glad it landed safely, I was worried about that.
