"The money makers in today’s world are among the most respected and admired. The vast majority of humanity thinks there is nothing wrong with just making money since they are completely unaware of the difference between just making money and creating life support.

Of course the difference is that making money is making neutral wealth, but it is not creating "synergic wealth". Those just making money are often the “winners” in the neutral-adversary reality of our modern world. But the price humanity pays for this minority to win is the necessity for the majority of living humans to lose.

Those who just make money still need life support. They get it by trading their 'Neutral wealth'–money, for 'Synergic wealth'–life support. If as Fuller tells us 90% of Americans are just making money then only 10% of Americans are creating life support. No wonder the majority of humans are losing. "

I thought this was a great article - written by Timothy Wilken, MD; inspired by Buckminster Fuller's book Critical Path. It is a very important point.

This point is at the heart of the problem with capitalism. The system allows people to generate wealth without really generating any sort of *life support* or anything that is *worthy* to our lives, which deserves the gain of that capital. We are letting these scammers run amok, of course it is only because we are ruled by the scammers and swindlers.

Nothing wrong with it at all. But when a small cabal of financial elites turns the global economy into a rigged game with their thumbs on the roulette wheel, it ceases to be a level playing field.

Good ole capitalism became fake hypercapitaliam when the road to wealth stopped being about providing actual goods and services and became about dominating a digital fantasyland of crooked derivatives and insider hedging instead.

Money is just a tool, a means of barter. HOW you make your money can be evil. HOW you spend your money can be evil. HOARDING your money can be evil, but money is a useful item. Excessive hoarding of large amounts of money means it isn't being used for Good. But its the people that can be evil, or unconscionable, or inconsiderate, or greedy, or anti-social, or what have you. And some people have enough money that they can both do much good and still live in luxury. It's all a matter of conscience.

one term..

Stolen Power.

There needs to be a public return on goods and services sold. Thats where our tax dollars should come in, but it doesnt.

Instead, we now give that wealth away from us, to help 'them'. All under the guise of helping us.

We should be able to take care of ourselves, but that is now only a dream for a lot of people.

He has a point, living standards there are so much better than in places like the middle east, Africa or Asia yet it's so easy to find people content with their lifestyle and poverty. They enjoy every bit of their daily routines where as the 'western world' are obsessed with materialism and wealth.

"I've got 10 million dollar mansion oh wait, I need a golf course....I'll just take a loan and sell this one, it's not good enough"..

edit: Just to add, there's a limit to ones spending...A sane man will never purchase more than 5 automobiles unless they're collecting. There's no need to wear Diamonds and expensive jewellery.

we live in a capitalistic society- of course money is being encouraged to be made because we have the ability to do with it whatever we want whereas in other countries they live by a different system.

thats my point.

Just as our views may be scewed of foreign practices- so can theirs of ours.

Edit- The power is in the hands of a few here- just as it is anywhere else in the world.

All the aid money we send to people- never gets to "the people". It goes to whoever is in charge, and he does with it as he sees fit(which usually means to fund his own empire).

Boy have you got that wrong. IF there was a limitless supply of resources (and thus money) then your statement might be correct. However, there is a LIMITED amount of resources and money is merely the manifestation of how those resources are utlilised. Capitalism only works if there is limitless resources (ie growth !!! think about it). If you analyse history capitalism has only survived due to the apparent supply of limitless resources. This was achieved via imperialism where the resources of a.n.other country were stolen and shipped back to the occupying country. Britain (and Europe) expanded massively over the past 200 years by shipping vast quantities of resources from Africa and Asia.

capitalism CANNOT work in a world of finite resources and the ability to expand into undeveloped countries has now reached a limit.......oh surprise surprise we have hit a problem. The problem is made worse by having a limited supply of money sucked out of the economy and stored in offshore tax havens by a handful of greedy individuals.

You right wingers need to wake up.

You proved nothing in your entire rant that capitalism is the problem.

We give as much of our own resources if not more- than what we take.

Supply and demand- It is basic economics.

The PROBLEM is that our money has been downgraded so much because of White Collar thieves stealing it from the people to pay for corporations and government shortcommings. (stealing).

Its because of crooks like this that turn Libour rates into betting scams.
Affecting every bit of credit(money) that is transacted.

If us westerners were not constantly robbed by those people, we wouldnt be having this discussion.

Its not capitalism- its governments inability to keep a check on their balance sheet and on the criminals who steal from us. Hell, they are the ones who have no problem being the ones who do it, and banks are happy
to help them, just as they are happy to help those dictators accumulate more wealth off their peoples backs.

One more thing... Im not a "right winger".
You need to wake up, not me.

at the end, all you can do with your money is wipe your ass.

assuming you've got some cash.

nothing....nothing wrong with that....

I just think that is not enough considering the capabilities we all have.

It's like using a car as a paper weight....you do know it goes...and has like a radio and air conditioning.

lol...

but hell.....money is cool. It is a valid tool like anything else....just depends what you do with it that will satisfy you...

There is absolutly nothing wrong with making. Even making awhole bunch of it. AS lomg as you don't make it by taking people's rights and liberties away, by killing a buch of people. As long as you contribute to society and not stock pile all the money you can get your hands on. Unfotryunatly those in power right now seem to be doing just that. They need to be taken down a peg or two.

Some greedy people make bucket loads of money to compensate for lack of emotional development and dealing internally with their issues. They block themselves from ever finding their "true" selves. Distracted materially and intellectually occupied with deals, mergers, foreclosures, real estate, condos, beach homes, etc. And then there's the family somewhere, they've neglected too long.

making money doesnt have an adverse effect as long as the money youre making is an accurate representation of your productivity
its when you are making profit that damage is done
making profit means that you are getting more than you put in and for that to happen someone has to be getting less than they put in
rationalize it all you want its still wrong

society would run just fine without capitalism
trade isnt going to stop for lack of profit
people still need and want things they cant produce themselves
and people will still work together to create technologies that will increase productivity because its still beneficial for the individual

Indeed. Buy low sell high - when that involves human labor, and it often does in the business world you're treading a fine line.

Personally I think many many ppl want to make money in a way that is NOT an accurate representation of their productivity. That often involves money to make more money, be it shares or other such financial endeavors. Most ppl don't have that option as you need a lot of money to play the game in the first place.
