My name is John Tressman I am a 22-year-old assistant professor at the University of Florida in Tampa. This is my confession. When I was an 18-year-old college freshman at this same institution, I thought it would have been fun to see how far I could have taken this story. I am concerned about future events from my point of view. I just wanted to try to wake up some people; at the same time have some fun. I do not believe my prior conduct to have been criminal in the least, I am not worried of criminal charges. It was a just fun to the American Idiot. My objective was not to get everyone to believe me, however it was to see if I could fool some people, which I believe I surely have had.

You damn fools. Prank over.

Sit there and think about this last statement for literally 120 seconds before continuing.

Okay I totally made that all up in the last five minutes. If I had got deeper into the subject, I could have made that all so more believable. However I have a simple point to make. If someone really did stand up and claim to be John Titor and stated the previous forum postings were a hoax. How could that person prove HE (or even she) WAS �John Titor� and not someone just making it up as I just did? All the evidence there of his hoax is openly avaible to that person. How could we ever know this was hoax? How could we know that it wasn�t just a hoax, that his claims of the previous events really were a hoax?

Who believes as I do this story could have a reasonable possibility of being true? We got less than three weeks to go, let's see what happens.

Simple. Take a photograph of yourself in front of a nationally-recognized monument with the suitcase "time machine" opened and in your arms, with a piece of paper saying "ATS" (and the date) written on it.

Fade to the Appian Way where half of the members of ATS are crucified and have 'banned' stamped on their foreheads.

And that's just the kind of thing we will continue to get. Those here a few months ago will no doubt remember the 'Aussie Bloke' hoax and I believe there was something similar beforehand (Prior to the appearance of the Pisky to these hallowed halls).

Whereas AB was proved to be a hoax (even before the earth failed to be struck by the asteroids he 'predicted'), the JT story can run and run and there will still be people convinced of his veracity. Why ? - because of his 'multiple timeline' story. If something happens according to his 'historical evidence' then he is real. If this particular thing fails to materialise, its 'because we are in a different timeline'.

I'd still like to read 'his' book though. The story is fascinating in a H.G. Wells kind of way.

And in case no one knows, he's supposed to be dead.

ever hear of disinformation? ever watch an episode of x files? come on just because some guy steps up says hes the guy and he has no clue what it all about even though vacation time, work history and schooling history all match up doesnt mean its a fraud,, there are alot of reasons why this smells bad,, the most we know is there is a man claiming to be the real aussie, and we never got hit,, thats all we know, it doesnt prove that it was all bs,, i think theres alot we dont know about this and never will

He did say he was from a diffrent time line. But with only a 2% divergence. He said there was going to be civil unrest right before the election. Theres been over 10 atacks on republican headquarters already.

Anyone can claim to be JT or AB, but it would down to them to prove it in some way.

As far as the public are concerned, Time travel does not exist, but I have read numerous conspiracies which claim it does, and that the "Above US Government" already have this ability. It's down to yourself to decide how feasible it is.

JT made fantastic claims of which he had an answer for every question he was asked, which made his story all the more perplexing.

Personally, I put the JT Conspiracy down to a talented screenwriter who was testing the believability of his story.

Having said that, I retain an open mind to possibilities yet to be understood.

In this thread link below this second time traveler claims that Johns family has left Florida in this timeline and moved to an undiclosed location.

If this is so then how is John in Florida when all of this has supposed to happen to him in the past?

Elementary, dear Watson, if you're a Sysghodd (as many of the mods here are.) Wake up and realize that in cyberspace, everyone is imminently traceable and also consider that we've tracked down hoaxers like "Dr. Judah Ben-Hur" (and showed aerial photos of the house where he lives (actually, it's his grandfather's house) and his high school.)

Just because there are a lot of Gullible True Believers doesn't mean that everyone on the Internet is unskilled. To see just how good sysops and skilled users are at locating hoaxers, take a gander at:

EveCasino: Yes, I believe Skeptic Overlord speaks for the mods in this capacity. Remember, most of us are very computer skilled (and the initial story about "needing a copy of Unix" is so patently false that we knew he was a hoax from the get-go) and he was around enough and unaware enough of computer issues that he was trackable.
