Years ago it was about pride, your own nations pride. Now it is just a revenue stream. Even the rings are owned and you better not use them without permission. It has lost the charm and sportsmanship it used to have.

Now the number of medals you win is all about how much you spend, and we are talking about huge expenditure.

It is not what it used to be.

I won't even start on SAM missiles and entire divisions of soldiers. It is a sham!

We are putting on the greatest games ever seen in my opinion, something that makes me proud to be British for a change. Suggesting that we don't deserve the right to host it because we are not on top of the medals table is insulting.....

Just curious why the Olympics are in Great Britain when they are sure way down the list line? So much for home team advantage.
US and China seem to be spanking them.

Do the Maths.

Population of China 1 Billion

Population Of USA 312 million

Population of UK 60 million

The higher the population the more medal winners (in theory)

If you can read then this explains it:-

www.envirosagainstwar.org...

Countries such as the UK over achieve in the medals table per size of population.

Just to update you OP,

GB are 5th now, and thats obviously not including all medals

Our men track cyclists SMASHED 4 World Records yesterday, records already set by us

Our womens team also broke the world record, but later got disqualified for being 4 inches out of place in another race

And the Chinese women would have had gold at the Velodrome yesterday, but fell foul to the same rule that got our birds out, they were relegated to silver in the end. Made the Germans happy though aha.

I mean REALLY, how are you supposed to see a strip of masking tape when your flying round a bend at 50mph??!!

The staff later added a spounge there after GB were disqaulified, and they tried acting like it was there the whole time lol.

It *should* be marked with a cone.

We have the best athletes. I believe worst health falls to whichever African nation has an ebola plague at the moment.

You have the best athletes? The 2008 medal table says you don't:-

To the athletes, it's the high point of their entire lives, compressed to just one day or one night.

That's impressive in most cases. Half empty, Half full I suppose.

It is amazing how quickly the games can be over for some athletes. A Judo match can be over within the 1st minute.

Imagine training all your life for that one moment only to be defeated by an Ipon in the first minute.

Yeah its true, watching the athletes is definetly inspiring. you can see the pain and passion in in their faces.

Okay Charles Ebbs.

I still have no clue how I passed my math with an A while sleeping.

Yuh, I probably can't remember my Algebra algorithms and I'm going to need it for my statistics class.

I didn't want to agree with this but after watching the decisions in the men's boxing I am left with some major doubts!
