Is Congress The Real Source Of Postal Service Problems

Congress has been using the USPS as a piggy bank and refuses to allow them to make the necessary cuts that would have kept them above water now they are defaulting for the first time in their history.The Mob does the same thing with the businesses they take over they use their credit and money,run them into the ground then blow the place up and collect the insurance they call it "Busting Out."a business.

He does make some fair points.However, he understates how much technology (internet) has affected snail mail. You just don't need ground mail as much with the advent of email. Furthermore, most of what people send through a type of mail service is being sent through Fed Ex and UPS, not the USPS. You're d@mn right congress is holding back the ability for the USPS to scale back. They're already under attack for the current unemployment numbers. Who thinks they want to add to those numbers. We have to keep those JOBS for people. This extends far beyond the USPS alone. You see manufacturing all but disappearing. Some like to call it outsourcing. I think there are more underlying issues than just outsourcing going on here. What we are seeing is the beginning of a struggle of things beginning to change due to technology. The conflict of interest is how we have always believed things to be, and where technology is taking us. The USPS is the glaring and prime example of this concept.

Yes. If they spread the benefits contributions over years, there will not be an issue. The politicians want to privatize the post office and that will mean that we lose all constitutional privacy rights to your mail. The other effect of having the Postal Service make these enormous contributions in advance to the benefits is that the money goes into the stock marker, thereby propping it up; but, don't worry, once the contribution is made, the market will see a major correction and it will need to be paid for again. It is a ponzi scheme, the employees get taken advantage of and so do the tax payers.

Blame it on the constitution. We have to have a state ran post service according to it.

It's funny cause most constitutionalists hate state ran services, they'd call it communist.

I agree, with the competiton of the other delivery services and the invent of email and social media sites, it has pretty much made them nothing more than porn mag delivery people...

Its an outdated service offering an outdated method...you either upgrade...or you get downgraded.
