U.S. government sues New Mexico for damages in groundwater case

The federal governments claims in New Mexico are unprecedented, and would give the feds power over rural and city owned water supplies. The government is using a claim made against Chevron / Molycorp to try and justify the takeover and control of ground water.

The claims seek to reward the federal government (EPA) with all future water right's and management, stating the damages incurred in the mining process were estimated upwards of $500 - $800 million in costs.

The lawyers told the committee the U.S. government is apparently trying to take over legal management of the state's water supply. The federal government has asserted claims for damages to groundwater in a natural resource damage case in New Mexico involving Chevron/Molycorp. The claim seeks for those damages to be awarded in the form of future water rights management.

Wow... It never stops. Preventing Tombstone Arizona from restoring all water to the town because of some critter wasn't enough of an outrage, now it's a whole new level of grab for control by water. Oh brother...

The 10th Amendment means absolutely nothing whatsoever to these people. The Feds are out of control as Texas, Arizona and now New Mexico apparently know all too well. It's like they've come to view the States as nothing but stewards of the Federal body when our system is 100% absolutely NOT set up that way.

New Mexico ought to put their foot down and say No. If not now, when? If not for water rights...then what?

hhmmm - They are sooooo devious!! Blame it on the gas and oil industry - which is what They are ALL about - Claim the land, drill and frack the hell out of it above the laws and controls of any one... AGENDA 21..... GGRRRRR -

Shakes head and goes off sputtering profanity - this is getting to be over the top and it is time for a real change. Our forefathers who fought so hard to get here and tame this land are spinning in there graves spitting make that choking on wooden nickels....
