What career fields can you think of that are NOT yet corporatized and do you think they could be?

I have been thinking about this for a couple of weeks now. I'm wondering what careers/businesses we currently have left that aren't yet corporatized and whether they will be able to survive or if they could/may be sucked in, too. Here are some of the ones I can think of, that don't seem to have been gobbled up, so far, in my area:

Dance School
Gymnastics school
Yoga Studio
Personal Trainer (except as part of a sports franchise)
Art Gallery
Local Theater/Musician/Orchestra/Band
Tours (horseback, hiking, kayaking, zipline, boating, ghost hunting, etc)
Museum
Handmade Craftsman
History Re-enactment
Archeologist
Anthropologist
Interior Design/Decoration
Futurist
Motorcycle repair
Bicycle repair
Author?
Religion related ?
Lab/Research?
...

Career fields that I think have been corporatized:

Banking (obviously)
Manufacturing (all)
Food service (except for small niches which are generally gobbled up as soon as they are discovered)
Travel/Tourism
Automobiles (all)
Sports
Medicine/Health
Journalism
Telephony
Computers
Television
Radio
News
Movies
Music (outside of local)
Author?
Religion related?
Lab/Research?

Automobile uhpolstery.

Also furniture uhpolstery. But furniture is so cheap nowadays, this one may dissappear.

But, isn't the entire Automobile industry pretty much corporatized? Furniture (i.e. manufacturing) too?

ETA: Classic car upholstery is probably still not corporatized! Good catch, if that is what you were thinking... That falls under handcrafting, I think.

You made me think of this - I think we can add Wine/Beer Craftsman to the list, too.

You have author with a ? behind the word. That would be like many of the other career fields you stated in that you could go with the corporate end of it or not. Like a hair stylist for example. You could go with the corporate end of it and work in some regard for the Vidal Sassoon Corp (Regis Corporation), or "Freelance" the services out of your own home. Same with a writer. Random House or your house.

Those lists you made were pretty good though. And there's a common theme throughout them all; go with the corporation to make a lot of money, or go with the small businesses where you won't make as much unless you are exceptionally good at it.

Yeah, I ran into that same problem, thinking about this, where some of these careers/businesses are corporatized and yet some are still free and not bought and paid for. I guess that's where I was kind of going with the "could they be gobbled up"? It seems like those that have found niches are surviving, for now.

Good call - I had not thought of hair stylists! Many are still self employed. Same with Dog Groomers!

I groomed dogs for a couple of years before I got my degree. Sadly, one of the patterns we are seeing emerge is that most of these careers don't pay too well.

I actually want to go back into the trade. Customized is decent money, if people have it. I've been lucky enough to help restore a 57 Chevy.

Sadly with the "throw away "cars, now on market, I do not know how valuable the trade is.

My ats alias is what I wanted to name my shop. Showin' tail... show and tell...
I wanted to specialize in "slabs" and lowriders. Damn. I'm barely 30 and my dream feels hopeless.
