Do you all not have a statement at the end of several parts of the obligation that say something to the effect of "I, knowing them to be such"? In the state I'm currently in, that line is used often, because you can't really be punished for something you're unaware of.

And from what research I've done, I've taken "libertine" to mean someone who not only has no moral compass, but also overtly chooses to act that way.

Well said.

After talking to several older Masons after reading this thread they said almost the same thing, literally.

As far as Freemasonry is concerned, the word 'libertine' has absolutely no sexual connotations.
