Fox, MSNBC viewers see world differently

Turn the dial to the left to watch MSNBC and it’s more likely you lean left. Turn it to the right to tune in Fox, and it’s more likely you lean right. Which cable news channel people watch has become a bona fide indicator of what they think about taxes, health care, immigration and the size and scope of the federal government, according to a new McClatchy-Marist poll.

Take the big debate this year over the role of the federal spending in the economy. Just 19 percent of Fox viewers think that increasing government spending would help the economy, while 79 percent think increasing the debt in the process would hurt the economy. MSNBC viewers lean the other way, with 55 percent saying more spending would help and 43 percent saying the debt would hurt the economy.

Or taxes. MSNBC viewers are more likely to be willing to pay more taxes and to support higher taxes on the rich and Wall Street. Fox viewers are more likely to think the poor should pay more.

I think this article nails it home pretty good, you political outlook or ideology could very well be crafted by what you watch. Is this news or indoctrination? Its easy to notice the avid watchers of there networks because of the posts are often the same as the news anchors are preaching.

I mean this is how ATS readers view the world... having seen the evidence (exhibit A, B, C... never ending).

Fox news gets caught manipulating stories or out right lieing about stories on a regular basis. MSNBC has also got caught but not like Fox.

I think the fairness doctrine and equal time needs to come back, if government is going to allow media monopolies like we have today.

I wonder if this was a topic on the main stream news, I suppose members would know what to say about this.

They're both total hogwash and if you value truth and journalism over propaganda and entertainment, you wouldn't get your information regarding the world around you, from either.

On the plus side, it gives freedom loving Americans another reason to be divided, and to disagree with one-another on issues that don't really matter. Instead of concentrating on the real criminals, who don't care about political parties, race, color, creed, or anything else other than power and control, we have another reason to hate each other.

When did "Liberal" get distorted from meaning and advocating Social Liberty to promoting Big Government? At the same time how can a "Conservative" argue that they have a right to deplete (anti-Conservation) the resources of nature in the name of profit?
