This is how my mind thinks - wanna follow?

OK.

Olympics. We are, right now, over and over - Beach Volleyball.

That's not much of an Olympic sport, is it? Girls running around in bikinis. Notice how only the American team is in bikinis. Anyhow.

We're losing the medal count right now. China is winning. Yes, end of Day 1 - China is winning 5 -2- 2 - to 3-2-2

All America is seeing right now are the "gold winners" - Just as China is airing it's gymnastics win - etc - on their Televisions.

Do we focus on niche sports to win? Basically, view this as a giant propganda count.

Because, I mean, you'd *want* to believe American won the medal count in 2008... right?

China beat us.

Rank Nation Gold Silver Bronze Total
1 China (CHN) 51 21 28 100
2 United States (USA) 36 38 36 110
3 Russia (RUS) 23 21 29 73
4 Great Britain (GBR) 19 13 15 47
5 Germany (GER) 16 10 15 41
6 Australia (AUS) 14 15 17 46
7 South Korea (KOR) 13 10 8 31
8 Japan (JPN) 9 6 10 25[13]

Forget about NWO -

It's still getting you to watch it.

Ha Ha Ha.... wait.

China beat us in Gold -

Yet we won "10" more -

So we can still say "We won the medal count..."

The spirit of the Olympic games is not this race to who will get the most medals. It is the communion of all nation to celebrate the achievement of extraordinary human beings with fantastic abilities under the same roof.

Very sad to see that the only thing that count is the medals. Even more when we know what happens to chinese athletes that dare go back to China without a medal.

The whole Medal Count thing came into being as years ago...the OLYMPICS for the U.S. anyways...were strictly for AMATEURS! All our TEAM sports were made up of College Kids and the U.S. Government did not pay for kids to play.

The Russians and various other Soviet Block Countries had other ideas and paid their athletes year round as a JOB. Even still...the U.S. held it's own and in the...I believe...early 90's...the U.S. Olympic Committee started to allow PRO's to go to the OLYMPICS.

This occurred because the U.S. was one of the last holdouts on allowing PRO's to participate...and then we BOYCOTTED the 1980 Olympics in Moscow and the Soviets Boycotted the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. Both Summer Olympics.

Finally in 1992 THE DREAM TEAM...the first American Pro Basketball Fielded Team with one college Member...utterly DESTROYED the competition as Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan and the like played GOLF all day and played Basketball at night or whenever they were not playing GOLF. An actual OLYMPIC MEDAL ROUND was held up for a few hours as Charles Barkley was still on the course.

The U.S. has only 300 Million People...CHINA has close to 2 BILLION! I think we are doing JUST FINE!

You're implying that Great Britain will win the medal count / gold count -

Since they are the ones hosting...

I don't see it.

Or maybe, if you agree to host the Olympics, you win..

How did those Greeks do?

err... wait...

That was symbolic.

I said "often" not always also, You claim you're exposing some sort of propaganda yet this thread seems to be pro-China propaganda.

Why don't you just wait and see like the rest of us who wins when it's all over?

Phelps isn't going to win.

Damn it, we told him not to do advertisements, look what we did to Jenner.

Let's put him in Lane 8, very bottom.

Reports say he won't win.

Loche is better looking, looks better.

Yeah?

Yeah. He will win.

I watched every Basketball Game the Dream Team Played on the multiple Simo-Cast. I would laugh as players from other countries would run up to the U.S. Team and ask to get a U.S. Basketball shirt with a 33...LARRY BIRD or other players numbered shirt signed.

It was the end of the Cold War at one Team...LITHUANIAN TEAM was sponsored by the American Band...the GREATFUL DEAD...as they wore Basketball Shirts designed by the Greatful Dead with a Human Skeleton dunking a Basketball...and the LOGO saying...BACK FROM THE DEAD...AS THEY FELT THEIR COUNTRY NOW WAS.

GOOD TIMES! Split Infinity

Do you think the whole medal count came as a direct result because of the competition between the US and USSR?

Oh for Cripes....I was just pointing out that not only are the People of the U.S. gracious enough to sponsor another Countries Basketball Team...WE WERE THE ONES who wanted the OLYMPICS saved for the KIDS...not the PRO's.

I HAIL NOTHING! I will hold my hat over my heart. Split Infinity

You guys are so bad.... I'm sure she never thought that little bunny hop of hers would be immortalized forever. Geeze... It's almost indecent! I can't help but laugh every time.

Personally, I think the medal counts are as much a projection of commercialism as anything else. Rank by medal, sign contracts by rank. Contracts into the mega-millions per person. Yeah, I'd say the medal count and whose neck they go on has become big big business like every other aspect of the games now.
