Not that uncommon, however, dangerous.

The deadly Ebola virus has killed 14 people in western Uganda this month, Ugandan health officials said on Saturday, ending weeks of speculation about the cause of a strange disease that had many people fleeing their homes.

On Friday, Joaquim Saweka, the WHO representative in Uganda, told The Associated Press that investigators were "not so sure" it was Ebola, and a Ugandan health official dismissed the possibility of Ebola as merely a rumor. It appears firm evidence of Ebola was clinched overnight.

Hopefully it will be contained to local regions, as it has been before.

And hopefully those on the scene will take the necessary precautions before returning home....

There is no treatment and no vaccine against Ebola, which is transmitted by close personal contact and, depending on the strain, kills up to 90 percent of those who contract the virus. Joaquim Saweka, WHO's representative in Uganda, said that although suspected Ebola infections emerged in early July in Kibale district, about 170 km (100 miles) west of the capital Kampala, the outbreak was not confirmed until Friday. "There are a total of 20 people suspected to have contracted Ebola and 13 of them have died," Saweka said.

90% is pretty high.

I've been wondering, with the whistleblowers who claim they caught wind of plans to evacuate London during the olympics, if this is all connected.

There are Ugandan athletes at the olympics, and one could reasonably assume that there aren't just athletes, but staff, and possibly families as well. How many Ugandans travelled to London for the olympics?

I realize this is going out on a limb, but what if..?

Another what if I have is that it seems to me Africa would be the perfect place to test bio weapons, if one had the resources, frozen strains, and ability to bomb/burn villages to stop it.

Well its hardly an implausible scenario, not sure how esily the virus is transfered. But in a stadium of 20,000+ people things could get nasty?

Worldwide Disease Outbreak Reports and Status

I try not to post this much because some people react....oddly...to seeing real displays of just how much real ugly illness is happening every single day. For instance, Scotland appears to be having a little Anthrax issue. Certainly, not alone there though. Bird flu in two variations are alive and well and pushing hard in multiple nations and Cuba's death toll on a Cholera outbreak is approaching 200.

The Ebola outbreak isn't confirmed here yet, but it does the strange illness and the map for outbreak location in Uganda, as well as Foot and Mouth outbreak information for a different area of Uganda.

Ever feel like you were in the Men in Black scene about how there is always a death ray or some threat to life on Earth? Well...That display isn't for the meak...but it does wonders for perspective. Hope it helps! (Ebola is 4th from the bottom on the main listing)

Have you ever read "The Hot Zone" by Richard Preston? That is some scary reading about Ebola. Also, makes me think about the recent movie "Contagion". In that movie, it was a flu strain, but as I watched it, it reminded me a lot of the Preston book as the characters spread the disease while performing their normal routines and it killed most who acquired it.

The Ebola virus is spread through close personal contact with a person who is infected with Ebola. Often, infection (in previous outbreaks) have occurred among hospital care workers or family members who were caring for an ill or dead person infected with Ebola virus. Blood and body fluids contain large amounts of virus, thus transmission of the virus has also occurred as a result of hypodermic needles being reused in the treatment of patients.

Ebola Transmission

to me that doesnt really add up to a good viral candidate for infecting a crowded stadium

After reading over studies done by the CDC and WHO I don't feel any better. This is a terrifying disease and they seem to know little about it.

CDC "thinks" it could be airborne. WHO does not.

Well that clears it up.

I look at it this ...bodily fluids are in the nose and mouth...you sneeze or cough they are expelled...so that spreads the virus...

all this discussion of a false flag doesn't remove the possibility of this being an engineered strain though..

You beat me to it.... That book was awesome/scary. It was very informative and well written based on actual events from the perspective of those that were there. For those who have read it news likes this makes me go "Uh Oooo" am i right....?

You walk away educated and in awe of the mysterious nature of viruses.

Dont worry I cant really hold it against you, viruses that liquify you from the inside and are potentialy airborn are justifiably scary.

Now if you were scared of a lil ole wabbit then your a chicken, lol.
