The former University of Colorado graduate student accused of killing 12 people and wounding 58 others in a shooting rampage at a cinema last week had been under the care of a psychiatrist who was part of a campus threat-assessment team.

The disclosure came in court documents filed yesterday by lawyers for James Holmes, 24, who is accused of opening fire last Friday on a packed showing of the latest Batman movie, "The Dark Knight Rises," in the Denver suburb of Aurora.

So, now we know that Holmes was under the care of a professional who used to work for the Air Force. I wonder what kind of psychotropic drugs he was on. This also might explain his questions about him coming out of a trance or psychotic break?

Is this just another symptom that our heathcare system is failing those who truly need it while we argue about tax breaks for corporations and the rich. I wonder if Ronald Reagan would have regrets about his actions regarding the mentally ill or would he still throw them in the street?
