A U.S. military spokesman responding to reports of the death of Iraq"s former deputy prime minister Tariq Aziz,, has stated with absolute confirmation that he is alive. The statement by the U.S. military came in response to a report by Dubai-based al-Arabiya television that Aziz has died while in custody.

The US military has said it has absolute confirmation that Tariq Aziz, Iraq"s former deputy prime minister, is still alive.

"I can absolutely confirm that he is still alive," Lieutenant Colonel Barry Johnston, spokesman for detainee operations in Iraq, said on Saturday, after reports on Arab television stations that he had died.

"He was alive five minutes ago," he said at about 0310 pm (1210 GMT).

Dubai-based al-Arabiya television said Aziz had died in custody, quoting sources in the International Committee of the Red Cross in Iraq.

The report had quoted sources linked to the International Committee of the Red Cross in Iraq. Al Jazeera have also confirmed that Aziz is alive through the Vatican. In addition, his son has also reported that his father was still alive. This is not the first time that his death has been reported. Back in 2003, reports surfaced of his death only to be proven wrong when he appeared on televison.

This issue is easy to answer. If he's alive, show us! Don't tell us! Show us! How hard is that?

How can a TV appearance be proof that a person is alive?

Where has all the logic gone?

Long time passing.
