"As for those brilliant folks who question why he should have any opinion on how the Olympics are organized, you are nitwits. He was put in charge of the most recent Olympics in the US in Salt Lake in 2002, and managed to clean up a huge mess of corruption.

Get the facts before you mindlessly bash someone, by doing so, you are no better than the fools you claim to point fingers at!"

You are laughingly clueless and embarrass yourself with your comment. Mitt is not auditioning to be CEO. He is trying to become a president. How a CEO acts and how a president acts are NOT the same, no matter how simpletons like you wish that to be so. There are certain realities called politics and diplomacy that must be artfully managed. Romney went to London and showed he has zero understand of how geopolitics is conducted. If he thinks he can be CEO on a world stage, he will be creamed overseas and will make it very difficult for America to accomplish anything overseas. It may sound dainty and silly, but in world diplomacy, even small gestures are critical as they denote respect or disrespect. Mitt proved as stupid and unprepared as Palin. He could not even take the time to learn the names of those he was meeting...translation to the other citizens being, he does not respect us enough to even get the names right.

Try to think beyond shallow layers.

Another point is that a CEO is a dictator by virtue of how a company functions. A government is a coalition with a structure designed to reward and require deliberation and compromise,

Sorry but this just isn't news. All Romney did was point out the same issues that organisers in the UK had worries about and the press had been running on for the past 2-3 weeks.

The guy is a plank, but not because of this. Not news.

Last I had heard there were fifty-seven. And Obama had visited nearly all of them. Oh the humanity!

Firstly we have some quirky politicians here (Boris Johnson) but seriously you want to elect Mitt Romney as President? I thought Dubya was bad, has America not learned anything from the Dubya days? The guy is like a robot with a serious flaw in his foot in mouth circuit.

Ron Paul isn't quite the statesman America always needs, but surely he would be the preferred choice?

Romney may have had a point. But the statesman, keeps those views to themselves when in the hosts nation. Not embarrass the host nation by blurting them out in a TV interview. Still if that's what you guys want and the best you can offer, who am I to judge.

Better to vomit at the dinner table, no?

I think so!

Diplomacy in a diplomat is truly an attractive quality.

Yes, but no more than I have to.

Can you show BBC right wing bias then? Then I'll find left wing bias and we'll duel like gentlemen. Or gentleman and lady depending on what you are.

That made me wonder...

Whilst Romney was insulting the UKs ability to host the Olmypics, forgetting the name of Labour Leader Ed Miliband and referring to him awkwardly as "um..eh..Mister Leader"...and then announcing he had met with the leader of MI6 -- against all British protocol...

Did he find time to explain to the Brits that thier Healthcare system is Socialist/Marxist Tyranny???

Funny the same thing can still be said about Obama.
And actually folks Romney does have room to talk about the Olympics, he helped with the last one in the states and they had a bomb incident if you recall. So for Romney to express security concerns actually makes some sense.

ESPECIALLY since it is a convenient diversionary tactic useful for drawing attention away from what else Romney was involved in, back in 2002...or, that is, according to Romney himself, was NOT involved in...as far as he could recall, that is.

And then, there's this comment, from www.guardian.co.uk...

Romney, when asked in an interview with ABC on Friday about the China link, said: "I'm not going to get into the uniform issue. There are big issues associated with the Olympics: the security of the games, the readiness of our athletes, and that's what I'm going to focus on, hopefully when I get to cheer on the people who are going to be supporting and representing our country."

I guess there are bigger issues than being the founding father of the now-common practice of outsourcing American jobs, for sure! SECURITY and terrorism are the ever-present control measures used to perpetuate fear and doubt.

But all that doesn't really matter...when it is time to cheer! Cheer for those who support and represent our country. If they are Anglo-Saxon, that is. And are in the

Well then your not describing Mitt Romney cause everything that comes at his mouth is just the opposite of what your looking for. He said what his people wanted to here in the US and then when he went to the UK he said what they wanted to hear.

Its typical Romney he has always been like this please dont try to make it seem like its an honest mistake from some honest man.

What in the world are you talking about? When did I talk about Mitts political qualifications or mention him as a CEO? You say I am clueless, but you seem to be quoting me and ranting in response to someone else!

Romney's "gaffes" speak of an underlying condescending attitude to anyone/thing not part of the .001% elite.

In his book "No Apology" he had nothing too kind to say about England. In fact he dismissed it as entirely irrelevant.

"England is just a small island. Its roads and houses are small. With few exceptions, it doesn't make things that people in the rest of the world want to buy. And if it hadn't been separated from the continent by water, it almost certainly would have been lost to Hitler's ambitions."

Well, there you are England - you're just a small island. You don't make anything the rest of the world wants to buy. Your roads are small. Your houses are small. And if it weren't for the English Channel, you'd all be speaking Nazi right now. At least according to Mitt Romney - the guy who was so quick to point out he (and not Obama) can boast of a "common Anglo-Saxon heritage".

ETA: The embarrassing thing about this for Romney, is that he went to England to show off his diplomacy and foreign policy skills. I guess he did - spectacularly. 3 snubs/gaffes in 2 days.

What is really bothering me is that here people are not concerned about his foreign policies or in better words, lack of those (everyone remember Bush Jr.) but real question both candidate will be asked, like with every election - are you pro-life or pro-choice.

Most of people don't see world beyond USA boarder.

Not that I am a Romney supporter, but what he said was entirely taken out of context by the liberal media.

Just like when they portrayed him saying "he likes firing people" he was actually referring to the capitalist system and the reason it works is because of competition. Monopolies of course dont have any competition, thus you cannot fire them or choose to go without if they are an essential service.

Get over it. Every Olympic event is a disaster when it comes to the planning, over all cost, taking over a city and creating huge inconvenience for its natural inhabitants, and of course lack of proper security.

So my main question is:

I believe he was right in voicing concern. DID WE NOT ALL SEE THAT VIDEO DISPLAYING HOW BAD THE SECURITY FIRM HIRED FOR THE OLYMPICS IS!?!?

Christ, what hope do normal Americans have when their own potential president doesn't even know basic geography?

England is just ONE country in the UK FFS I'm tired of telling people this.

And this Romney character intrests me. Let him walk down the streets of Glasgow in a dark night and call the UK England to a Scotsmans face, lets see what the colour of his blood is...

And yeah this "small island" also spawned the largest empire ever known... So yeah...

Not surprising at all, a lot of the stuff the current GOP/TP candidates say would finish their political careers abroad. Mostly because they're blatantly lying or catering to a small fundamentalist village idiot minority

Judging from what I hear people in the UK and Europe say about Romney, they consider him a bit of a joke

What is wrong with his original statement?
It seems sincere and honest because he said he was worried about security.
Perfectly normal to be worried initially and be impressed later.
There is nothing wrong with expecting the worse and hoping for the best because It only means he has high standards.
If people got offended, then it is obviously their problem.

Besides, he already has Olympic experience so what's wrong with expressing concerns?

Its not like he accidentally flew the wrong Korean flag or something.

It's really no surprise that any European media lambasts an American Republican. It's to be expected.

Leave it to the Brits to ignore one President returning a gift but getting all wound up over a criticism of their Olympic debacle requiring military.

I'm not a Romney fan. I'm a Ron Paul supporter. However, there is no possible way Romney could be worse than what we have now.

America will simply not survive another 4 years of Obama. It will be unrecognizable if we let him get reelected. So the choice isn't pretty but it's necessary.

Also, I still haven't heard one thing Romney has said that was as frighting or offensive as Obama's "You didn't build that" speech. How anyone can listen to that speech and still think Obama knows what America is about is truly head scratching.
