Look at the teeth ..that will be the best bet at ID ...

All animals have distinctive teeth patterns ..

I'd say not a rodent the front teeth are wrong .. pigs have distinctive molars and the front teeth are wrong .. It also lacks canine teeth .. but they may be lost.. it looks like a remnant of a distal tooth on the front left ...

My guess it's an old dog .

Also, the snout/mouth is wrong for a pig.

That was my first impression as well. There do seem to be quite a few pig-like qualities, besides the feet and tail of course. Don't know what it is, but I do believe there will be a pretty boring explanation for this.

Now that I can believe. Hadn't even occurred to me, it's a reasonable enough explanation for me.... for now.

Oh that's where my little Fido the filthy rat whore went to.

He took off a couple of summers ago and I am just sure that's him.

He was even ugly when he was a puppy!

My bet is it is a decomposing pit bull that died in a dog ring fight. They get rid of the dead dogs by throwing them into the sea. Look at the ears. You can tell they were crimped. It's just decaying and bloated. Very sad.

Judging from the configuration of the teeth and feet it's a racoon which has gone bald. The teeth are wrong for it to be a dog also the feet are wrong. Can't be a pig, feet aren't hooves. Just like the original mauntak monster it's a racoon.

The body is too wide for a opossom. Definately a coon.

IMHO, it cannot be a pig....maybe a big groundhog or something????

For those that think its a pig or a dog, please do not take up a field in investigation because you obviously didnt look at the pics of its feet

There are also some other anatomical traits which are important. If you look at the hind legs, you can see they are plantigrade, i.e. the animal used its whole foot to walk (like ourselves or bears, and -surprise surprise – raccooons), unlike dogs which walk only on the tips of their feet. You can also see the paws. The toes are long and finger like, and there are five of them. This is also exactly like those of raccoons:

Raccoons are highly omnivorous and consume only very little meat, for this reason they have no big carnassial teeth, but broad and comparably small molars and a similarly shape 4th premolar. The snout of the carcass is missing, and the lower canines seems to be broken, possibly the animal was roadkilled. But the data from the molars and premolars is anyway much more important. Looking at all data from this carcass, it is next to sure this was nothing but another dead raccoon. I am quite sure other people (who have probably not read what I have written because they are too lazy…) will again make comments and say it’s yet a dog or something else.

That's a grim sight but I think what somebody at the start of this thread said was right - water can do some bizarre things to animals' bodies.

Montauk creature was a racoon that had lost all of its hair, I am sure that was too.

My money is this is result of gene splicing.

It is not one thing or another because is a failed experiment.

Don't worry though. The FDA will approve the medicine made from it.
