The quake was recorded at a depth of 45.9km, about 28km north-west of Sinabang. This is some 300km southwest of Medan, the capital of North Sumatra province. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre has issued a statement saying there was a "very small possibility" of a tsunami, as the specific area of the earthquake does not have a historical record of generating the damaging waves. The earthquake was registered at 10:44am AEST. The Australian Bureau of Meteorology has issued a statement that there is no tsunami threat to Australia.

Yes! Another Earthquake thread!

Man, I was truly starting to wonder what happened to all the Earthquake news on ATS. Different tactics of fear mongering, media distractions, maybe family issues... who knows. I'm just glad to see that Earthquake news is back, alive... and healthy.

Ready for some crazy prophecy?

You sure?

A series of strong earthquakes will begin very soon, starting in Fiji, then to Indonesia... with in one week of this occurring, Japan will be struck again with an 8.3... then finally, a big one will hit Alaska!

I'm trying to figure out how an earthquake could effect the Olympic games, still thinking...
